No sleep. I got no sleep last night. Wasting my sleeping hours, I sat on the corner of my bed with the covers pulled up to my chin, replaying those actions over and over again. Every possible outcome and choice I visualized, but they all ended with the same result of him possessing an idiotic grin whilst I stared impassively, then just to leave through my window still smirking. There’s nothing else to say, no alternative way to describe how I feel other than the words “I don’t know”. Although I sense that deep inside, I enjoyed it…

What?!

Elaine shook her head, ignorantly tossing away her last thought.

Pshhh, no way! Absolutely no way. There is no way that I have fallen for Terrence Redway. (Oh that rhymed!) See? I’m totally fine.

More like totally convinced.

Tired of contradicting with herself, she stared at her dark, shadowed eyes in her mirrored reflection. She let out a stress-filled groan and stomped out of her bathroom, lazily throwing on an outfit. Going to school was the exact opposite of what she needed after their uncomfortable encounter. Elaine felt a small flutter in her stomach, and the juvenile sensation of butterflies awakened from far within her.

There she was, standing ever so gracefully in the midst of the crowd. Elaine was not just a part of the mob; it was if they formed around her, swarming around her, begging for attention! He remained there in that corner of the hallway, taking in her every detail, the individual shades of her dark hair, the contour of her body, and that voice! He was a hunter, catching the scent of his inviting prey. His stare must have been quite intense, for Elaine noticed and their eyes caught each other, electricity snapping in the air. His thoughts conveyed through his eyes, and that familiar blush formed on her fair complexion, causing the girl to turn away quickly and resume socializing with the horde of people.

The bell rang, and the halls cleared in what seemed like a second.

She has free period now. Looks like I have plenty of time to make some progress… *Mental evil grin*

Elaine still stood there at her locker, randomly rearranging things, it seemed, but could also be observed as just her attempting to hide from the monstrosity that waited some feet away. And the monstrosity came, right on cue. It crept behind her, ready to snatch her away.

“Have you thought about last night?” Terrence whispered in her ear.

Elaine jumped, cheeks turning red. She didn’t reply, not because she simply refused to, but because she was frozen stiff.

“Not responding I see?”

“I just… Don’t know what to do!” She literally screamed, embarrassed to a point of madness. The helpless girl ran out of his grasp, dropping her backpack and all her books onto the floor. Terrence chuckled lightly to himself, watching her run, and then began picking up her spilt possessions and neatly placing them in her bag.  Slinging the bag over his shoulder, he went on his way to retrieve the missing half of his heart.

No one ever goes to the roof. Even since they put the lock on there, kids have strayed from the path to the roof, unaware of the gradual rust that weakened the lock.

“No one” is an assumption, however. Elaine found the spot one day while roaming the school grounds, searching for a quiet hideaway from the constant pestering of her followers, and sometimes even to get away from her friends. What started as a temporary retreat ended up as a regular site for Elaine, giving her relief.  She didn’t think that anyone else would know of this.

But, who else but her stalker.

Terrence expected Elaine to run up to the roof. He walked nonchalantly, deep in thought, plotting his ensuing moves.

Ah, Elaine. You never cease to amaze me. How shall I toy with you further? Rather, how shall I tease you to the point of insanity, drowning in my love, so I can finally obtain your confessions? I plan to make this “game” very interesting and worthwhile…

At last he slipped under the chains of the heavy doors leading up to the rooftop, wearing his crafty smirk. But that smirk faded relatively quickly, when Terrence Redway caught sight of what transpired behind those doors.
