Before we start, sorry for all of the time skips, I just don't know how to write books :(

Bucky's POV

Sam and I have been getting a lot closer. She's opened up more about her past, and Jay has been fitting in amazingly. I still can't get over the fact that I'm a grandpa.

Steve however, is very... tense, around the two. He acts jealous, but why would he be? I mean, Sam is my daughter and Jay is my grandson. Why would that make him jealous?

Anyways, a new mission has come through and apparently it's so urgent that Fury himself has to give us a PowerPoint. How much spare time does this man have in order to lecture a bunch of children in adult bodies?

I arrive with Sam and Jay at the conference room. Of course everyone other than Fury is here. I sit down with Sam on my right and Jay on her right, having a conversation about how Sam took Jay out to town, only to end up being kicked out of every store they went in (22 in total). I notice Steve glaring at Sam out of my peripheral vision. What is his problem?

Fury finally cuts off our giggles with his dramatic entrance. He makes his way to the front of the room, where the interactive whiteboard stands. He picks up a tiny remote and turns on the projector. "This is the damage an advanced HYDRA base has caused." He begins, flicking through multiple pictures of towns in rubble, bodies scattered across different regions, fires burning down forests and other terrible catastrophes. "We have located the base. It's is situated here," he says, pointing at a red circle in the middle of South Africa. An odd place to have a base, but that's probably what they were going for. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Sam yawn, as if bored.

"Am I boring you, Ms. Barnes?" Uh oh.

Fury's POV

"Yes Director. I don't really see the point in me being here. Nor Jay. Neither of us are on the team." God why did I agree to let her go.

"Because, Ms. Barnes," I say through gritted teeth, "we need as much help as we're going to get. Whether it means sending three children on to the battle field or not."

"I don't care what you want, Director," she responds mockingly, "there is no reason to have a four year old fight in a battle that has no need for him to be there."

"Look at the area, Barnes!" I say, my voice slightly raised. "The amount of people that could get injured during this fight could depend on whether you are too selfish to allow your son in a place too 'dangerous' for him, even though he was born there!" I see Jay getting a bit uncomfortable from this debate and the Avengers either too intimidated or too into the show to stop us. Sam, however, doesn't seem to care.

"I don't see the issue here, Fury," she spits out, standing from her seat.

"What do you mean you don't see the issue!" I shout. "Thousands of people could be blown up because of your idiotic decision!"

"I can't see the issue Fury, because I can't see shit!" She shouts, slamming her hands down on the table on the last word. Suddenly, an illusion (I think, I can never be sure with this girl) is dropped, to reveal two missing eyes. I straighten a bit, trying not to stumble back at the sight. Her face relaxes, "oh, my bad. Did I forget to mention that I had my eyes gauges out when I was seven?" She asks rhetorically in a time so sweet yet terrifying, it almost had me shaking. Almost.

Before I can say another word, she storms out of the room, Jay following quickly behind.

"Meeting dismissed," I mutter, Barnes scrambling to his feet and stumbling behind his family immediately after.
