Running...

I had to keep running. If anyone finds out what I've done, I could be in serious trouble. I run until I'm out of breath. I slip a beanie on my, tuck my hair in, and continue down the street. Once I got to my apartment complex, I could sense my mother was home and that she was angry. Wait... that's new. I took a deep breath before walking in. When I did I stopped in my tracks. What I didn't' expect was to see the lobby completely crowded. Right in the center of it all was my mother. She glared at me with narrowed eyes, "Hyler! Do you have any idea what you have done?!? I told you not to interfere!" My mother is the scariest when she's angry and I was in no mood for it. "What are you talking about?" I mumbled. She hands me her phone and I swallowed hard. On the phone was a video of me shoving Paden out of the way. I groaned.

"This cannot already be on the Internet already?!? This just happened!" my mom snatches the phone back. "It's not bad enough that your hair color is very distinctive, 10 people have already uploaded this video and five of those people got very good views of your face!" I shook my head, "What did you want me to do, let him die? He's special, you know what he means to me!" I was tearing up now. My mother's face relaxed as she pulled me into a hug. "Hyler, I know this boy is special to you, but you know we are only supposed to interfere when it's extremely necessary. We can't save everyone and were not supposed to." I nod, "Can I go to my room now?" I said as I pulled away. She nodded as I walked towards the elevator.

No one understands... and no one ever will. My mother tries to, but her vision is not as good as mine. I'm as human as it gets, but my mind is very complex. Me, my mom, and everyone who lives in this apartment complex are special. We all can see deaths right before they happen. We're called death seekers. There are some of us who can see more than deaths though. Those who are fortunate with that vision are called the ultimate seekers. That would be what I am. There are four of us who live here. Me, my grandmother, our eight year old neighbor Kelsie, and her mother June. Unlike them, as of lately, I've only been having visions of one person in particular, Paden. Today was the first time I've had a vision of death in months. Seeing Paden's death shocked me. If I wasn't nearby, I wouldn't have been able to prevent it. I just hope me saving his life didn't jeopardize ours.
