"January 11th... Shouto's birthday.." Momo muttered quietly to herself as she walked home from work. "He usually doesn't want to do anything, but when we go out on his birthday it's always my idea and he just does it to make me happy..."

Momo sighed and pulled her scarf up to cover her nose from the chilling air. He also had a solo mission in Musutafu today, so he'll be home a little later... she thought as she passed by a bakery. She glanced through the window, admiring the various baked goods. Maybe something simple this year would be good...

Light snowfall began to trickle down as Shouto walked home. It was dark already, night was upon them sooner than he'd have liked. A small sigh escaped him, his breath puffing out in a white fog. Today was a long day.. I didn't even get to see Momo much and she usually likes to spend today with me.. he thought while pulling his phone out and checking the time. It's getting kinda late too... I wonder where we're going for dinner tonight. Knowing her it'll be someplace nice..

Shouto walked along the sidewalk, spotting their house in the distance. It was their first winter living together. They had moved in together only two months after graduating from UA and it was everything he could have wanted. Being with her in the mornings and at night, spending their off time from work together just doing anything or nothing at all.. Just thinking about seeing her at the end of any long day and then going to sleep with her in his arms warmed him inside and made him smile softly.

"Alright birthday boy," he muttered to himself as he reached the door, "day's not over yet.. Wonder what her plan is for tonight.."

Shouto entered their home, shutting the door behind himself and taking his jacket and shoes off. "Momo. I'm home," he announced, figuring she'd want him to get ready for their date. "Where are we going for dinner?" he questioned while walking down the short hallway to the living room.

His eyes widened and he stopped in his tracks as he stared at what was before him. The lights were out and dozens of candles were lit, illuminating their home. Momo was sitting at the kotatsu waiting for him with freshly made soba and steamed vegetables and a bottle of sake. Shouto was at a loss for words. It wasn't at all what he was expecting to come home to.

Momo stood up, and walked over to her boyfriend, smiling warmly to him. "Happy birthday, Shouto," she said with the most beautiful smile he'd ever seen.

Shouto blinked rapidly several times, taking her and everything she did in. "Um.. Thanks, Momo," he replied, unable to think of anything else to say. "I wasn't expecting this at all..."

"Good," she cheerfully said, her smile growing even brighter, "it was supposed to be a surprise. I thought that this year we could just celebrate your birthday here at home. Just the two of us."

Shouto stepped closer to her and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her and resting his head atop her shoulder. "This is perfect, Momo. I couldn't ask for a better birthday.. Being here with you is just what I wanted."

Momo returned the hug. "I'm glad you like it. I made your favorite for dinner and I picked up a strawberry cheesecake for dessert," she informed him, loosening the hug. "Plus I got you a present. I think you'll like it."

Shouto loosened his grip but kept his hands on her hips as he looked at her. "You didn't have to get me anything. Just spending time with you is all I really need," he stated, somewhat curious as to what she got for him this year.

"Well," she said, dropping her arms from him and stepping away, "how about you unwrap it first and then decide what to do with it," she suggested, creating a bow and placing it on top of her head.

Heat spread through his face at what she was implying. "Well, c-can I open my present before dinner then?" he questioned, stepping closer to her so their bodies nearly touched.

Momo grinned and shrugged her shoulders. "It's your birthday," she beamed.

Shouto set his hand on her head and removed the bow. "Hmm.. I think I need to unwrap it more," he said, eyeing her up and down. He set her arm on his shoulder and then lifted her up suddenly, carrying her over his shoulder as he walked out of the living room.

"Shouto! P-put me down!"

"Can't. I've gotta unwrap my present in the bedroom."

A blush spread across Momo's face as he carried her down the hall over his shoulder. "I could have walked.." she mumbled, embarrassed to be carried in such a way.

"But I get to decide what to do with my present. Remember?"

"Y-yeah.. Okay.."

"Good," Shouto smiled as he reached their room. "Are you gonna get me the same thing next year?"

"We'll see.."
