Luke put my bags in the trunk as I continued to explain to him what had happened. I was able to leave Florida around 10 and landed back in LA at 7 in the morning. After trying to reach Daniel for the hundredth time, I finally gave up and just called Luke. He was the only other person I knew that would come regardless of what was happening."Do you think I overreacted? Like maybe I shouldn't have left like that." I rambled as we got into the car.
"I think anyone would've done the same. Especially if he wasn't being completely honest about what was happening, I don't think I would've been able to stay. You did the right thing by getting yourself out of that situation while you could." Luke gave me a reassuring smile and began driving.
To get my mind off the situation we talked about Luke's latest audition. He had been in between auditions for the role in a really big movie for months now and he was beyond excited for it. But before I knew it, the conversation was coming to a show stop when my house came into view.
Luke helped me carry my things inside before leaving again. It had been such a long night and I had yet to sleep, but I wasn't tired at all. My mind wandered to Aedan. I wanted to call him so bad. But I was still so mad I couldn't comprehend what I would even say.
The sound of my phone vibrating beside me shot me away from my thoughts. Corbyn's name flashed on my screen. I smiled to myself a bit before answering.
"Hey, Mal. How's Florida?" Corbyn's voice was soothing and immediately relaxed me. He made it so easy to just talk and be open.
"I'm actually home. Things kinda went south and I caught a late flight home." I sighed, the memory of my brother crushing the pills replaying in my mind. I stood up and walked outside, the early fresh air taking over my stress.
"Awh well that sucks, I'm sorry. I know you were excited to see Aedan." I appreciated Corbyn didn't ask about it. The last thing I wanted to do was talk about my brother doing drugs, because even the thought killed me.
"Anyways, how was your weekend?" I asked in hopes it would distract me.
He went on to talk about how he spent most of it in the studio, but him and the boys went to a birthday party last night and things got 'wild' apparently. Corbyn's girlfriend is in town too so they've been spending time together as well.
"I actually wanted to ask if you've heard from Daniel? He left in the middle of the party last night and no ones heard from him since." Corbyn's voice was now distant and sounded worried. My heart dropped and my anxiety grew.
"He texted me yesterday when I landed in Florida, but I haven't heard from him since either. I tried calling him all night to come and pick me up from the airport but he never answered.." My mind wandered to the worst possible thought. "W-was Daniel drinking?"
Corbyn sighed. His voice came out shaky. "He was. From what I saw he only had one. But I lost him soon after I saw him so I don't know if he drank anymore after that."
I shook my head and closed my eyes. I turnt and walked back into the house.
"I'm gonna try and get some sleep and then try to reach him again. I'll let you know if I get a hold of him." I walked upstairs and into my room, loneliness immediately hitting me.
"Okay, thanks Malia. Be careful."
We said our goodbyes and hung up. I changed out of my uncomfortable jeans and slid on a pair of sweats. I so desperately wanted to call Daniel again. I wanted to hear his voice so bad. I wanted to make sure he was okay. But I knew I couldn't right now.
I laid my head on the pillow, Frank immediately jumping beside me. I smiled and began petting him, sleep taking over me almost instantly.
