I jolt out of bed, the word help! ringing in my head in the silver fox's voice. A hint of panic sits in the echo, like an after taste from a sour wine. It must be a dream, and yet it felt so real. I had just nodded off, tired from the long day. It was nice to sit in the meadow for a few minutes. The sun is just sailing over the horizon, streaking the sky with color. Everything is quiet, I must have imagined her call. Her sweet voice of a sparrow, a blast of cold air on a hot day. I put on my robe and walk to the sink to splash some cold water on my face. I rub the sleep out of my eyes. I must just be tired.

Jacklen rushes in,

"Did you hear that!?"

I pause. She must mean Annalisa's voice.

"Wait, you heard it also?"

We both jump up and run out towards where we just saw the princess. We burst out of the doors to join the rest of the kingdom outside. Jade is in the meadow, cantering towards us, neighing dreadfully with huge eyes. The queen rushes forward to the horse,

"Where is Annalisa? WHERE is she!?"

Finding no reason not to expect the worst, she falls to her knees, her blond hair falling over her face. Wails off sorrow escape her mouth.

All the people of the village silently get on their knees and pray for the princess to be alright. Hope that she just fell off the horse, and yet we all know deep down that something isn't right. No one had ever heard her send a distress call before. I see how my normally-calm horse is reacting. The one who slept through a thunder and lightning storm, the one who stayed imperturbable while in a earthquake.

"Oh god please help her."
