Marinette looked out at the Parisian skyline from the Eiffel tower, today was the anniversary of the first time Ladybug and Chat Noir showed up and saved Paris from Stoneheart. There had been so many news stories about the duo that were written specifically for today. But today hurt more than she had words for, because Chat Noir wasn't here. 

It had been nearly two years since he disappeared and this was the second time she had to go through this day without him. Marinette had no clue why her chaton would leave her with no explanation, she had always been worried in the back of her mind that something had happened to him. She needed answers but no one had them.

Her mind wandered away from her kitten to Adrien. He disappeared near the time Chat Noir did, no explanation, and no contact. It really hurt her, Alya, and Nino. She wished that she knew what had happened to them but she was just left with more questions.

Marinette stood up and called on her transformation. Now Ladybug, she grabbed her magic yoyo and swung toward the balcony of her room. She made her way down into her room. "Spots off" she said flatly and in a flash of pink light she was Marinette Dupain-Cheng again. She didn't feel like being Ladybug for longer than she had to today. 

"How are you holding up Marinette?" Said a sweet and tiny voice behind her.

"I'll be fine Tikki…" Marinette responds glumly. "I think that I'll just head to bed early today, maybe I'll wake up in time for school tomorrow."

"Okay, Marinette, but you know you can always talk to me, right?" Tikki said quietly. 

"I do, and I will. Just not today okay?" Marinette lightly tapped Tikki's nose playfully. "Goodnight Tikki."

"Goodnight Marinette."

Marinette fell asleep quickly and dreamed of Adrien Agreste and Chat Noir. 

~The Next Morning~

"Bonjour, Alya!" Marinette said waving at her best friend.

A good night's sleep was really what Marinette needed and she was in a much better mood today.

Alya turned around to see her bluenette best friend walking up the steps to their school. "Hey girl! You are early this morning! What's up with that?" Alya asked, slightly curious.

Marinette giggled at her friend's remark. "I went to bed early last night and I feel really good this morning." She was being honest, she really did feel good this morning. For some reason she had a feeling that today would be interesting. 

Alya hugged her friend, it was nice to see her like this, all throughout junior year and part of senior year her friend had been kind of depressed. She was certain that it was because of Adrien, but she felt like there was something more behind it.

The two girls met up with Nino inside and walked to class with fairly minimal chatter. They all walked to their seats, Nino by himself in the front with Alya and Marinette behind him.

Madame Bustier walked into the room looking fairly happy. She brought the class to attention.

"Alright class, we have a student that will be returning to class today!" Madame said with a smile on her face.

All Marinette could do was cross her fingers and hope it wasn't Lila. Alya looked over knowing what her best friend was thinking and she was hoping the same, but at the same time she couldn't think of who else it would be.

All of a sudden the door opened and Madame Bustier welcomed the student. He walked in and turned towards the class. His eyes locked with Marinette's and he smiled. There was a gasp that went throughout the room.

Marinette, eyes still locked with his, uttered one thing.

"Adrien…"
