Adrien woke up feeling nervous, he knew he’d be questioned by Alya today. If he knew his friend at all, she’d probably have a written list of questions he’d have to answer. But he would do anything to make sure she didn’t write an article about Chat Noir returning to Paris. Personally, he couldn’t wait to see her reaction when she found out Ladybug is her best friend. Marinette said that they will talk to Nino and Chloé later today about joining us for the final battle. Then tomorrow the two would reveal our identities to them. His father’s trip was almost over, they only had four days until he returned, and that included today.
Adrien got ready for school, putting on a casual outfit and putting a leather jacket on over it. It was nice for him to be able to ride his motorcycle to school, he enjoyed it much more than riding in that stuffy limo.
As he rode to school he felt giddy, usually Mondays weren’t that exciting, but today Marinette would talk to him of her own free will. Yesterday had been so wonderful, and truly freeing for Adrien, he had been holding all of that in for so long. Now, he only had one thing he was still holding in, and so did Marinette.
Adrien arrived at school fairly quickly, and found a place along the side of the road to park. Grabbing his helmet and his bag, he began walking towards the school. As he reached the steps he spotted Marinette walking up towards him from her bakery. She looked beautiful as always. She was wearing a blue-gray lace Cheongsam dress, with her hair up in a bun. He had never seen anything like it, it had to have been her own design. Everything about her outfit was an eastern style, from the clothes to the makeup. He could feel himself blush at her appearance as she got closer to him.
“Good morning, Kitty.” Marinette said softly, as she was now in earshot of him.
“Good morning, Princess! Might I say that you look quite magnificent in that dress. You must have designed it.” Adrien said, purring slightly.
“Well aren’t you feeling quite cheeky this morning?”
“I only tell you the absolute truth, M'lady.” Adrien winked as he said the once again cheeky comment.
Marinette was about to respond when they heard an all too familiar voice.
“Hey cat boy!” Yelled Alya from behind them. The two heroes eyed each other, knowing that their friend would have a hard time keeping this secret.
“Bonjour Alya.” Adrien had to admit that he was slightly annoyed that his conversation with Mari had been interrupted.
“Good morning,” Alya said walking up next to Adrien and elbowing him softly, “Chat.”
“What?” Marinette said, trying to feign cluelessness.
“Don’t act like you don’t know, Marinette.” Alya scoffed.
“What do you mean Alya? Why did you just call Adrien, Chat?” Adrien wanted to burst out laughing, Marinette was actually a pretty good actress.
“Because he’s Chat Noir, and I know that you know. I figured it out last night!” Alys exclaimed proudly.
“Adrien? Chat Noir? That can’t be true.” Marinette said, shaking her head. “What did you figure out?” Marinette worried that she had figured out her secret identity.
“It’s why you’ve been so mad at him. You must have figured it out on Thursday night, which was why you were mad at him on Friday.” Alya stated, puffing her chest out proudly.
“Damn, you’re good.” Adrien butted in, saving Marinette from the prying of Alya. “Marinette figured it out on Thursday, and she was mad at me for leaving Ladybug alone for so long.” It technically wasn’t a lie, “And now I’ve resolved things with both of them.”
“You clearly made up with Ladybug.” Alya said, wiggling her eyebrows up at Adrien. “They were holding hands, Mari! They showed up on my roof last night, and that’s when I figured it out with my legendary deductive reasoning skills. You should’ve seen it, it looked like they were dating!” Alya was truly giddy about her findings, and the two heroes were now blushing beyond belief.
“As much as I’d love to say that we are dating, I can’t. At the moment, Ladybug and I are just trying to make it through the next week. Although, after we defeat Hawkmoth, I’m hoping she’ll consider going on a date with me.” Adrien said the last part, looking directly at Marinette, luckily for the not-so-subtle teens, Alya didn’t notice the way Adrien looked at Marinette.
“I’m sure Ladybug will say yes, Adrien.” Marinette said, trying to look away from Adrien.
“‘Okay? Um, I’m not completely certain what’s happening, but the bell just rang, we have to get to class.” Alya turned and began walking up the steps.
Adrien looked back over to the blushing Marinette and winked at her, causing her to shake her head and giggle. She elbowed Adrien and started walking up the steps, Adrien following shortly behind. It was a pleasant silence.
