The next day, all members of the newly reformed superhero team woke up feeling a sense of fulfillment, soon their fight would be over. Of course, they had many long and grueling days ahead of them before then, but everything looked like it was going their way.
Marinette walked to school with a skip in her step, she had once again woken up early, a rare occurrence in her book. Walking into the schoolyard she saw Chloé, you’re Alya, and Nino talking, no doubt they were hypothesizing who she would turn out to be, Marinette chuckled lightly as she walked over to them.
“Bonjour!” She greeted them sweetly,
“Hey girl, you’re in a good mood this morning.”
“I am. I woke up early, I’ve been doing that a lot lately. Also, I had to talk to you guys. Are you guys excited? It’s a big day.” Marinette sang the last part, almost teasingly.
“Whatever do you mean?” Chloé asked suspiciously.
The ever confident Marinette answered instantly, “Why, you learning Ladybug and Chat Noir’s identities of course. They tell me everything.”
“They do?” Alya looked at Marinette with wide eyes.
“Yeah, you could say I’m a consultant of sorts. I’ve known Ladybug’s identity since the beginning, and I just recently learned Chat Noir’s. I’ve had to hide this from everyone, but it’s nice to have people to talk to. You guys must be terribly excited, to be able to go back and fight. Heck, even I’m excited for you guys, because Ladybug gets to see what I see in you guys. Heroes.” Marinette said it all with a huge smile on her face.
“You knew everything all along?” Alya asked, mystified.
“I did, yeah. Of course up until now, I haven’t been at liberty to talk to anyone but them about it. I would’ve loved to fangirl with you when you became Rena Rouge, but it would’ve been dangerous to let you know that I knew.”
“Anyone could know that.” Chloé cut in.
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean, we can’t discuss any of that with you until we get the okay from our resident superheroes. For all we know, and I don’t mean this with disrespect, you could be working with Hawkmoth. But if Ladybug and Chat Noir say it’s okay, then we will gladly discuss it with you, I promise Marinette.”
“I have to agree with Chloé, girl. Just sit back for now, and then we’ll talk to you tomorrow, if they confirm your story.” Alya said, it felt weird for her to be agreeing with the girl who used to torment them.
“Okay guys, we’ll talk tomorrow then?” Marinette said, maintaining her cheery disposition, she really could trust her friends.
“Of course.” Her friends said in unison.
Marinette wandered off, and ended up finding Adrien.
“Hey bugaboo!” Adrien said brightly.
“What’s up Kitty.”
“I’m so excited for today! We finally get to lift this burden from our shoulders and share it with others. This is going to be one of the greatest days of my life, other than the day when I marry you of course.” Adrien side-eyed Marinette.
Marinette scoffed at her cat-like goofball. “You are too much Adrien. How can you possibly predict something as big as that?”
“Because I know us, and we are meant to be together, and you know it too, you just won’t admit it yet.” He turned and winked at Marinette.
“I’m sure about many things in my life, but my future, that is not one of them. One thing I am sure about though, is that you are taking me on a date once this is all over.”
