---------------------DREAM-------------------------
Callie stared passively as the bright green spell fire came rushing towards her and allowed it to strike her chest. One moment she was standing in the middle of the Forest having the killing curse shot at her and the next she was standing in the middle of a King's Criss that had all the color drained of it.
As she studied her surroundings, her musings were interrupted by the squal of what she thought was a baby. What was a baby doing there though? She had originally assumed this was the Afterlife but the entire station was empty, save her and the baby. A baby which someone had apparently shoved under a bench.
She went to reach out one of her delicate hands but it was suddenly gripped by a much larger hand than hers.
"Who are you and why did you stop me," she asked when she finally turned to face the man.
His skin was the same color of the entire King's Cross at the moment, devoid of color. Most people had varying shades of peach and brown or even slight flaws from acne and freckles. The man was like a sculpture come to life.
"Most call me Death, Mistress. But you may call me whatever you please," the man said.
Calypso ignored the whole 'Mistress' part and asked," And the grabbing thing?"
She gestured to her wrist that he still held. His fingers were chillingly cold but it didn't hurt like she had thought it would. Death didn't release her and instead begun walking her away from the bundle beneath the bench.
"That," he gestured back behind them towards the baby, "was a piece of Tom Riddle's soul. The one that had lodged itself within you as a babe."
Calypso grimaced at that thought. Then she remembered how she was raised by her 'loving' relatives and felt worse for the baby. She wondered if it had been able to feel all the beatings and starvation alongside her. Shaking the thought off, her eyes widened as their surroundings changed to a field of grass with a beautiful view. Everything was still devoid of color though.
"Why have you brought me here? Shouldn't I be reuniting with my family and friends now," she asked as she observed that they were still the only ones around as far as she could tell.
"No. I apologize, Mistress. You will only ever arrive at the crossroads, here, when you experience a temporary death. I will soon send you back to the living but you'll be able to find your way back without my aid the next time."
There was so much wrong with that entire small speech that Calypso didn't know where to begin. She didn't plan on there being a 'next time'.
"You mean to tell me that I'm going to return to the living world? I refuse to be a Zombie."
Callie could only imagine Death shoving her soul back into her already dead body and picturing the Inferi she had seen within that cave. Her body was wracked with a shudder of disgust.
Death's face remained unchanged but a slight light of humor entered his usually impassive eyes.
"I wouldn't allow my Mistress to be a Zombie. However, you will go through a transformation. It should aid you in your fight. You shouldn't stay here long," he said as they approached a door that stood alone at the edge of the field.
The door was the only thing that held color in the expanse of white of their surroundings. As they approached, it swung towards them and she could see the scene she had left behind when she was hit by Voldemort's Avada Kedavra.
Before she could turn to Death and ask him something else, she was sucked into the door. It was like sinking into liquid sun as she shut her eyes tightly to avoid becoming blind. She didn't need to open her eyes to know she was among the living once again. Her body felt as though molten lava was racing through it. It took all her will to keep from screaming, let alone twitching.
Narcisse Malloy approached her and knelt down to place her hand at her throat to feel the pulse there.
"Is he alive? Is Draco alive," she whispered towards Callie. She struggled to nod her head gently instead of jerking it in pain to give an answer.
"Well," hissed Voldemort from behind Narcissa's body that shield everyone's view of the fallen girl.
"Dead," she confirmed as she stood back up to face the crowd of Deatheaters.
Hagrid cried out in grief as Voldemort chuckled his chilling laugh. He commanded the half-giant to carry Calypso back towards Hogwarts. Hagrid was so grief stricken he didn't notice the breaths she was taking or even the slight changes taking place to her appearance.
Previously black hair had begun to lighten to brown and some streaks of gold begun to sprout up. No one was paying attention to the 'dead' girl amongst the group of Death Eaters except Narcissa who held in a gasp of shock and quickly looked away.
Everything seemed to blur after that as she ignored Voldemort's mad rambling. She waited until Neville sliced clean through Nagini's neck to finally leap from Hagrid's arms and confront the snake man.
She felt her eyes burning as she stared down the man. Callie had raised her wand to fling a spell when she glanced into his eyes and watched as he fell as though a marionette with it's strings cut. She stared at his body in shock and didn't notice as the pupils in her eyes reverted back to their normal shape.
--------------------Dream End--------------------
The sound of a phone ringing woke Callie up from memories from her past. She reached out to the side table, with her eyes still closed, and answered the phone attached to the room.
"Hello?"
"Unspeakable Phoenix, this is Sheriff Stilinski. I was just calling to inform you that Derek Hale was escorted into town this afternoon. We've got a couple deputies keeping watch of him to make sure nothing happens. He was last seen heading towards the old Hale House."
"Thanks for letting me know, Sheriff. I appreciate it."
"No problem. If you need anymore help just let me know."
She said her goodbyes and turned over to a wide awake Peter. His eyes were slightly red tinged.
"Are you alright," she asked gently.
Peter closed his eyes before opening them again when they returned to normal.
"Sorry. I'm still not completely better. I'm torn between wanting to go to my nephew and squeezing him to death before yelling at him for just leaving me here but I know it hadn't been his decision. On the other hand I feel so guilty in my part of Laura's death that I'm unsure how to face him."
"You weren't to blame. You already told me that the nurse who was 'taking care of you' had begun to try and condition you. You were completely feral."
"There's a part of me that also wants Derek simply for another pack member. I want to build a pack, a strong one."
"I'm sure you'll accomplish that. Just take one step at a time."
Peter looked slightly uncomfortable about something and shifted a bit before looking back at her guiltily.
"I think I bit someone the other night. In the woods, after Laura's death."
Calypso blinked a few times before asking, "There's an untrained fledgling Omega somewhere in this town?"
"Yes. By government laws I would be killed for biting an unwilling person. Not to mention if they're underage, I'd be hung for it."
"Don't worry. MACUSA will handle it if it gets to big but we first need to find this person. Second, determine if they're trustworthy. And lastly, figure out whether to pretend it was a feral Alpha who had passed through and had also killed Laura. Two birds with one stone."
Peter nodded in agreement right before there was loud knocking at their door.
