Sheriff Stilinski was massaging his forehead as he reviewed the report from last night. Marshall Blake had written one up for him with all the information she and Unspeakable Phoenix were able to glean from the partial body. Beacon Hills hardly ever had a murder case. The last time was around the 70's and it had been a huge deal due to how shocking it was to have everyone's peaceful monotonous days derailed with that shocking news.
He really wished that at times like these he had a bottle of whiskey who could drown in. Unfortunately he had given up alcohol a while back when he realized he had a problem. It hadn't been fair to his son to allow himself to spiral down that dark path after his wife had passed. Thankfully he had pulled his shit together. There were days though that he wished he could handle drinking a glass or two of alcohol without succumbing to drinking more.
If he thought his day was bad enough, it got even worse when an hour after his call to Unspeakable Phoenix his son and his best friend slammed into his office. Scott seemed to have a wild and indignant look on his face about something he wasn't privy to at the moment.
"Mr. Stilinski," Scott shouted as he gasped for breath.
The Sheriff raised a confused eyebrow in question. Scott seemed stuck on what to say or do and just stood there looking as though he'd just become dazed after smacking into an immovable wall.
"Dad," Stiles spoke out when he realized his friend had become tongue tied. "We found the rest of that body at the old Hale House!"
This caught his attention immediately and his face turned into a serious facade.
"I'll send some of the deputies out. Give me a moment as I do just that and give the two experts working the case that same information. I'll have to take down your statements."
"It must've been him," Scott mumbled with clenched teeth.
"Who? And what did this 'him' do," the Sheriff asked as he turned his attention to the boy.
Scott was a good looking kid with tanned skin, a chiseled jawline, with windswept dark brown hair. However, at the moment, he looked like he was half crazed about something.
"This guy that threatened us in the parking lot at school! I'm positive he was a werewolf! That body was torn in half! It had to be someone with supernatural strength to do that," Scott reasoned passionately. His fisted hand slammed against the wall beside him, leaving a little indent and Crack behind.
Sheriff Stilinski looked a bit closer at the boy and noticed little tell tells of a shifter in the process of changing or having been changed.
"Who turned you," he demanded as he stared at Scott sternly.
No one was allowed to be turned until they became an adult and Scott was far from being one.
"It had to have been that guy in the parking lot," Scott said with conviction. "He said I was a werewolf! He knew even though I still don't think I'm a monster. He must've been mistaken. But if I am, it was definitely that guy!"
Stiles stared at Scott incredulously. "What do you mean he threatened us," he exclaimed. "He barely even talked to us."
"He threatened to take lacrosse from me!"
Stiles was befuddled. His best friend seemed to have absolutely lost it. Sheriff Stilinski wasn't better off but he had to gather all the information he could, whether it was useful or not.
He let out a sigh before asking Scott what the man looked like and took down the description. As he knew of only one werewolf in town at the moment he begun typing in the computer to pull up an image of Derek Hale.
"Is this who you guys met," he asked as he turned the computer screen towards them.
"That's him! He's the one who bit me," Scott said with conviction.
"Scott, accusing a Werewolf of biting a minor is a death sentence, let alone unwillingly. Are you sure you want to accuse this man of biting you," Sheriff Stilinski asked seriously. He wanted Scott to clear his mind and think clearly about what he was saying but the boy seemed to become a dog with a bone on the subject.
"I'm positive it was him."
"How can you be positive when it was a wolf who bit you," Stiles exclaimed suddenly. He had enough of Scott's hatred of anything Werewolf. Plus, he couldn't stand him trying to get Derek in trouble for some reason.
Before Scott could say anything in response to Stiles, Sheriff Stilinski cut him off. "Stiles is correct in this matter, Mr. McCall. Derek Hale only arrived this afternoon at the airport. One of my deputies escorted him to where he will be staying. Since you were bit last night, it's impossible for it to have been him. It's a serious offence to give false information to the place. Now, Stiles, drive your friend home and return home. You're grounded for another week for lying to me and having brought Scott on your little adventure last night."
Stiles sighed heavily but accepted his fate. They left his office and the Sheriff placed his head in his hand in exasperation. He would need to make a few calls. The first would have to be Unspeakable Phoenix, then Marshal Blake, and last would be the call he would need to make to Melissa McCall. In case her son loses control in her presence and she gets hurt. It was a sad fact but there were parents who ended up giving up their kids if they got bit by a Wereanimal.
He hit redial on his phone and placed it to his ear in wait.
"Hello," came a feminine voice over the speaker held to his ear.
"Unspeakable Phoenix, this is Sheriff Stilinski again. Apologies for bothering you again so soon but I just had a teenaged boy come in accusing Derek Hale of biting him. I know it's untrue but since you'll be the one who will come in contact with him next, please make him aware."
"Who accused him," she asked with barely any inflection. He could slightly hear a bit of anger in her voice.
"Scott McCall. He's my son, Stiles, best friend. Unfortunately the boy seemed to have taken the bite badly. He was part way into denial and the other half was bubbling with anger. I'm going to keep an eye on him just in case."
"Alright. Thank you for the information. Oh, and if I may suggest, I'd have Marshall Blake attempt to get through to him. She would also be a big help with talking to the boy's parents. Just a thought though. Goodbye, Sheriff."
He said goodbye in return before hanging up. Next he needed to call Marshall Blake. All he wanted was a damn glass of whiskey. And he had thought it had been an exhausting day before his son and friend stepped into his office. It would seem this day would never end.
