Before I move onto the poem, I wrote this because of my grandma. She passed away on Christmas night 6 years ago back in 2014. It was the most heartbreaking moment for me. I miss her a lot but I know she is in a better place now and that she's not feeling any pain. Anyway, here it is.

There's an unwrapped gift under the tree
that I placed there in your memory
in a special place hangs a star
that reminds us of who you are
even though you're no longer here
we hold you close, hold you dear
and when we say our Christmas prayer
we include you and know you're there
watching over, looking down with a smile
I wish you could've stayed a while
Christmas is a little sadder now that you're gone
but there's comfort in knowing that you're home
in heaven you're at peace, finally at rest
there's a quiet here, heaviness in the chest
but we find our smiles, find the laughter
knowing that's what you'd be after
even when it was time to part
know that you're here in our heart
and we find love in your memory
reminded by a gift under the tree
