They never told me
How hard it would be.
They never say in their songs
How hard it is to decide right and wrong.
I knew I ruined it
Whatever it was that we had.
It was punishment enough,
How it made me feel bad.
But you don't understand.
No one ever does.
Leaving you
That took real guts.
It's because I cared.
But it hurt you,
That made me scared.
Another feeling to add,
Should I have done what I had?
But you can't be mad.
If it wasn't for me,
You wouldn't be free.
After all, you should be glad.
Now you're with her.
On cloud 9
And I'm the bottom line.
It's clear you've moved on.
So was what I did so wrong?
They never say, in stories and songs.
Trust me,
What I did, wasn't wrong.
