this chapter literally does nothing to affect the story (meaning it's boring and irrelevant), just skip if u want lol

Hosuh's POV

I gaze at my ringing alarm clock, the numbers on it flashing to the beat of the ringing. I'm almost even lulled back to sleep by the beeping sound, eyelids heavy.

Slowly, I heave myself up. The bed slightly creaks under me. Probably because of my weight.

I yawn, stretching my arms and slightly arching my back. I hear my spine pop satisfyingly.

Blinking my eyes slowly, I stare at the ground for a good 10 seconds before getting out of my bed.

I hop in the shower, making sure I avoid the mirror. When I come out, I dry myself and get dressed into my usual attire.

I brush my teeth and wash my face after that, water going down the drain.

I put my half-dry hair up in a tiny ponytail and make my way out of my bedroom.

The house is silent like always. I clamber down the stairs. Making my way to the kitchen.

The cupboards have locks on them, the fridge is empty.

A note is left on the counter and I pick it up.

Stash of cookies under my mattress

I smile. Clambering back up the stairs in Joey's room, I check under his mattress. Sure enough, a pack of cookies are hidden there.

I take one, popping it in my mouth.

I make sure to crumple up the paper and throw it out before exiting the house. I don't want Joey getting in trouble because of me.

I haul my backpack up on my shoulders, putting my toque and shoes on. Autumn can be really cold here in Canada, and my ears get easily frostbitten.

I lock the door behind me, goosebumps alerting me of the morning cold. Birds squawking in the distance is the only thing you can hear at this ungodly hour, and the sun is just rising.

It's about 6 in the morning as I walk to school.

I haven't had my daily coffee yet, so my eyelids are too heavy to be fully opened. Conveniently, there's a coffee place right across the school grounds anyways. That's lucky, I guess.

Ultimately, I make it to school. It's 7 by now, my hands are numb.

I rush into the cafe. Heated air seeps into my lungs, not long before it warms my whole body up as well.

After ordering my drink and tipping the barista, I muster a quick 'thank you'.

The barista doesn't answer, ringing up the next person. I cringe as I exit, overthinking the one-sided exchange.

I finally arrive to school in the cold, white huffs of mint-scented breaths puffing out of my mouth as I sip on my coffee.

It takes a while for me to find my friends because of the sea of students. I try not to make eye contact with people as I search for them, making it even harder to spot them.

Suddenly, an arm slings around me. I jump, almost spilling my coffee. "Hosuh!" The person says. "Hello!"

I turn around, met with the smiling face of Jay. "You almost gave me a heart attack, don't do that!"

"Do what?" Daniel pops up out of no where, making me jump again.

"That," I giggle.

"Ooh, coffee," Jay snatches the steaming drink out of my hands.

"Careful, it's -"

"Hot!" Jay yelps, dropping the coffee to the ground as he fans his tongue. The drink spills, staining the concrete. "Ith's so hot!"

I laugh as Daniel whips out his phone, snapping a picture of the distressed Jay.

"Don't take a picture of me," Jay squawks, snatching away Dan's phone. "I'm deleting that!"

"Deleting what?" A shade of purple appeared out of nowhere, joining into the conversation. "Lemme see!"

Stephen goes for Daniel's phone, and Jay seized his hand away. "No."

"Guys, careful, you're gonna drop it-"

A crack.

"I dropped it."

Silence.

We all stare at the phone on the ground as Daniel picks it up, staring at the cracked screen.

Uneasy silence.

Dan grins. "You're lucky I have a screen protector on. And the picture is still here, look!"

"Lemme see!" Stephen screeches, and Daniel brings the phone up to Stephen's face.

Stephen cackles like a madman, grasping the phone and taking a closer look. The reaction makes me laugh.

Jay pouts, flushed. "I'm gonna kill you all one day, I swear."

We start walking towards the school.

Before another conversation could start again, Dan loses his balance on a patch of ice. His hands wildly try to regain balance. It doesn't work.

He falls on his butt.

"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" I ask, stepping forward.

That only causes me to slip and fall as well, sliding and bumping into Dan.

"Urgh," Daniel responds.

Jay laughs at our misfortune.

"Get up," Stephen offered me a hand, and I accepted it.

"Thanks," I smiled at him. He grinned back.

"Ugh," Dan whines. "My butt's sore."

Stephen laughs at that, and I smile. His laughter is really contagious. It's a nice laugh.

After helping Daniel get up from the ground, we make our way toward the school once more.

The green haired male seems to be more paranoid of the ice this time around. He walks slower and more carefully.

"Oh, come on," Jay grabs hold of his arm, dragging him at a faster pace. "It's not like you're gonna fall a second time. Karma isn't that big of a bitch."

But then the two of them do fall a second time, Jay literally landing on top of Daniel.

Stephen cackles.

Dan struggles to push Jay off of him. When Jay gets up - a bit flushed, - he helps Dan up too.

"Don't underestimate karma," Stephen smirks at the two blushing boys. "It's gonna bite you in the butt."

"It can also bring two people together," I causally added.

The boys flushed even more.

i feel like they're somewhat out of character... i'll have to work on that 0<0
