Error POV
Today my favorite kid, Ink looked really sad. He's normally happy and drawing.
I walked over to him and offered a hug. He took it.
"What's wrong kiddo?" I asked.
"Swap Fell and Dust made fun of me..." he said. "I..I knew I was weird but it still hurt."
"I'm weird to. And I turned out awesome didn't I?" I said.
He smiled and giggled.
"Thanks Mr. Error." He said.
He hugged me again.
"Now let's go. I just bought you some new crayons."
"Yippee!"
As time went on and Ink grew up he still came to me with everything. One afternoon, when he was in eighth grade he came into the daycare, face red and wet with tears and blood.
I cleaned his scratches and asked him what happened.
He hugged me and cried. I comforted him.
"S-some kids beat me up. Took my money. I-I was gonna buy paints with that..."
I was furious.
"Why'd they do that?"
"They called me a fag and told me to kill myself. T-they just seem to hate me..." he said.
"Id say I'll deal with it but hurting kids is illegal."
He chuckled. He always did enjoy my jokes even if they were a little dark sometimes.
"It doesn't matter..." he frowned. "Mama said we're moving anyway. She found a better job."
"What!?"
"I know... I tried talking her out of it but her minds made." He said.
I started crying.
"I...well, I... I'll miss ya kid. You're like a son to me." I told him.
"I know... I'll miss you to. You were literally the only person I can trust."
He hugged me one more time and left. I shouldn't care. He's a kid....
I'm thinking of him as my kid. He isn't. He'll he practically is. I was there for everything. I was there for him. I watched him grow up.
Whatever. I tried taking my mind off it. Pathetic isn't it?
My best friend is a child. I feel like I'm in elementary school again when my best friend moved away. I still talk to him from time to time though.
After seven years of Ink being away I got the most amazing surprise I could ever have gotten.
Ink was all grown up now. A college drop out but still he came back! He hugged me again.
"Kid ya look so different." I said.
He laughed.
"You haven't changed at all old friend. How've you been?" He asked.
I told him everything that's happened while he was away.
"Heh. Yeah..." he looked at my hands and saw my ring. "You got married?"
"Yeah. He died two years ago."
Ink gave me a sympathetic hug.
"I'm sorry man. That sucks..."
I shrugged.
"Eh. It was an arranged marriage. He cheated on me like five times."
"What a dick."
