As the lab tech runs my blood test, I sit at the microscope, as a sample of the dark mark runs through the computer to tell me the genetic makeup.

Harry sits next to me and asks "What are you seeing?"

Peering down the microscope, I find something odd. Within the sample of my dermis, I find an odd substance.

When I grab for a cotton swab, I explain "There's something weird about the sample."

After rolling the cotton swab over the sample, I cut the end off, dilute it in saline, and turn towards a machine.

Ten minutes later, the tech pats me on the back "You're clean, Doctor."

I smile at her, before she walks off. As the machine prints off the results, Harry asks "Anything important?"

When I grab the paper, I freeze, instantly. Immediately, I delete the history on the machine and dispose of the samples.

As I sanitize my station, Harry picks up the paper and asks "What's this?"

"We're getting out of here." I tell him.

As I pull him through the halls, he struggles to keep up on his cane.

It's not until we're in the car that he hisses "What the fuck?"

I lock the doors, before telling him "Everything is made up of atoms, Harry. I'm living organisms, there is DNA and RNA, made up of atoms."

I take the paper from him and explain "The dark mark has a genetic strand with a backbone of threose." He gives a confused look and I clarify "DNA has a backbone of deoxyribose. RNA has a backbone of ribose."

He takes a moment, before asking "If it's not DNA or RNA, what is it?"

I take in a shakey breath, before declaring "Some evolutionary theorists believe that we started off as primordial pods of either: CNA, TNA, or PNA."

He furrows his brow "Which has a ThERose backbone?"

I let it slide and tell him "TNA."

He nods and I continue "TNA has not existed in a very long time, until Voldemort stumbled upon it, in his creation of the dark mark, or so I hypothesize."

He looks to the dark mark and asks "So, is... is it alive?"

I show him the paper and explain "The TNA strand has matched it's twenty-three chromosome with my twenty-three, second strand, DNA. Acting like an RNA strand and causing a mutation."

He looks confused, so I clarify "It's a commensalism relationship. The virus depends on the host, but it doesn't harm or help the host."

He nods, before asking "Is there any way to get rid of the mark?"

I shake my head, before telling him "It's just going to regenerate itself."

He gives me a pitiful look, before declaring "The police station is probably open by now."

As we walk into the interviews room, a police officer asks "Do you think you know this guy?"

Harry shrugs, before taking a seat "I just want to hear his voice. Find out more about him."

The officer looks to me "And why are you here?"

Harry looks to me, a soft smile "He's my doctor, and my friend." I give a weak smile and Harry tells the officer "He did a fantastic job stitching me up, too."

I scoff, before Harry tells the officer "And I haven't driven since that day."

The officer nods, before I take a seat and cross my arms.

After a moment, the officer presses play and I hear it. And in less than a minute, my trust cracks.

"999, what is the nature of your emergency?"

Panic attacks the line "I've hit him! Oh God, I hit him!"

As soon as I hear it, I know.

"Hit who?" Says the operator.

"Motorbike rider!" He cries, before sniffling "Wadswick Lane!"

"Sir, what's your name?"

After a long moment of silence, the line goes dead.

The officer pauses it and looks to me "What do you make of it?"

I sneer at the machine "It takes a special breed of douchebag to do that."

He gives a confused look "Do you know him?"

I shake my head and scoff "No, no I don't."

Harry bats his eyes, before declaring "He sounds so ordinary."

The officer nods "They often do."

As we park outside the house, Harry looks me over "You've been silent the whole drive."

I take in a shakey breath, before telling him "I've been trying to figure out what to say."

I stare straight ahead as Harry speaks, timidly "You're kinda scaring me, Draco."

I lean back in my seat, before narrowing my gaze at the car in front of me "I'm not going to hurt you."

He's silent for a moment, before insisting "Tell me what you're thinking."

I bat my eyes for a moment, before telling him "I'm sorry."

"Watt?" He asks.

I scoff, not letting my gaze slip "My apologizes, Harry. I trusted a arsewipe over you."

He's silent for another moment, before asking "What are you going to do to Th-"

I look to him with a burning hatred, which stops him, instantly. When I relax, I turn off the engine and take my keys in hand "I don't know, yet."

When I get out of the car, I walk around to help Harry, before starting towards the door.

Ginny rushes towards me, speaking frantically "I didn't know what to do! She was battered, and I couldn't leave her out on the street like that!"

I furrow my brow and ask "What are you talking about?"

She looks over my features, before insisting "Just, don't get angry."

I cock my eyebrow to her, before she motions towards the dining room.

As soon as I step into the dining room, Teddy looks to me in concern.

She sits with her back to me, but I would know her anywhere. When she looks to me, I find her eyes are both blackened. Her lip is split and bruised. One of her cheeks is purple. There's a cut on her forehead. And, her neck as visible hand impressions. Blood cascaded down from her nose, but it's clear she's tried to wipe it off, along with the blood from the busted lip and forehead wound.

Ginny continues "She just got here."

Narcissa looks me over for a moment, and I can tell it was Lucius.

After a moment, I look to Teddy "Be a dear and fetch my doctor's bag."
