As I sit in a hospital bed, Doctor Pryce carefully takes a sample of blood. After she's taken dozens of samples, she injects an antiretroviral.
After, she disposes the needles in a biohazard bin and covers my needle mark in cotton ball, held on by medical tape.
As the disposes of her gloves in the biohazard bin, she looks to the Weasleys and gives a short nod "You can come in."
They walk in and Olivia sighs "I'm going to rush your blood."
I give a weak smile "Thank you." She squeezes my arms, softly, before walking out.
Ginny furrows her brow and asks "Did you two use condoms?"
I had to cut and clean my nail beds. As protocol, I got a thorough scrub down, to insure I don't have any HIV positive blood on my body.
I scratch my forehead and tell them "We were together for three years. We did, for awhile. Didn't really think he'd fuck other guys."
Charlie furrows his brow and asks "When did you sleep with him, last?"
I furrow my brow and declare "Five months ago. Haven't got tested in years."
Ron furrows his brow and asks "How do you get it?"
I sigh and explain "Contact with the seminal fluid, pre-seminal fluid, rectal or vaginal tissue, breast milk, or blood of someone infected."
Angelina furrows her brow and asks "So, what happens if you have it?"
I moistens my lips, before telling them "If it's HIV, there are treatments for it. I can live a long, happy, life, with the illness." I give a drained look, before declaring "If it's AIDS, I slowly deteriorate, and, in my my last year of life, I'll probably deteriorate very quickly."
"You'd die?" Arthur asks and I give a short nod.
George furrows his brow and remarks "What a great birthday."
I shrug, before declaring "Irony runs my life."

An hour of anxious toe-tapping and pacing later, Doctor Pryce steps in and smiles "It's negative."
I throw myself back on the bed and let out a breath of relief, before sitting up as she states "As usual, I'm starting you on PEPs. You can start back to work tomorrow, however-"
She sighs and explains "When you go through stuff like you did, it's hospital policy that you get examined by a psychiatrist."
I furrow my brow and remind "I'm a psychiatrist."
She gives a weak smile "Other than yourself." She hands over my prescription, before declaring "You won't be allowed back at work until you go."
I give a short nod, before she takes my arm and removes my cotton balls. As she disposes of them, I sigh "I'll see if I can get one, today."
She shrugs "If I were you, I'd take a few days. I'm sure Doctor Williams won't care about a couple extra hours."
I furrow my brow and tell her "I'd like to return as soon as possible."
She gives a weak smile, before ordering "At least take tomorrow."
I give a weak smile, before clearing my throat and standing up.

As I walk down the hall with the Weasleys, Charlie lays his arm over my shoulder and asks "How you feeling?"
I furrow my brow and declare "I don't know." He gives me a confused look and I tell him "I feel something, I just don't know what."
He furrows his brow and asks "How would you describe it?"
I think for a second, before telling him "I'm just really tired." As we stop in front of Harry's room, I sigh "I'm just going to head back to the house. Take a nap."
Charlie furrows his brow and asks "Do you want me to go with you? Maybe make you something to eat?"
I shake my head, before declaring "You haven't really seen Harry. Even if he is asleep."
He gives a weak smile and I walk down the hall.
When I pass the nurse's station, I can hear a couple of the female nurses whispering to one another.
Silently, I keep my head low at walk out of the hospital.
~
When I get home, I lay in bed for hours, completely lumbodimized, laying on my side, all bundled up. As it gets darker outside, I can hear the Weasleys return.
I can see the stairway light flip on, out of the corner of my eye. Light casts in when my bedroom door opens.
"Draco?" Ginny asks. I can't force out a word. My body just feels to heavy to exist.
She steps up to my bedside and sits on the edge of it "Draco, we're making supper. We got you a cake."
I bat my eyes, not looking at anything in particular "Get out." I say, tiredly. She sits there for a second, blatantly confused.
She clears her throat, before declaring "Doctor Williams said that Harry would sleep for most of the day. We decided to come hang out with our other ill family member."
She searches for any response, but I'm to compressed to feel a reason to reply to her.
After a moment, she insists "I'll be right back." I can hear her run down the stairs.
A few minutes later, I hear several people coming up the stairs. When they're in my room, Hermione sighs "Draco, you gotta get up. It's not healthy to lay in bed all day."
My whole body feels like I haven't slept in a week. I simply can't find the intrest to move a muscle.
Charlie circle around the bed and squats down to reach my level "Hey buddy. You've been in bed for nearly fourteen hours. I think we should go on a little walk."
When I don't respond, he looks to Hermione and Ginny. Ginny asks "Have you eaten anything?"
I give a morose "No."
Hermione crawls in bed with me and tells me "Well, why don't you come down? Get something to eat?"
A thought comes to mind and I ask "The time?"
Charlie checks his watch and declares "Half seven." I sigh at the inconvenience and he asks "Why?"
I don't move as I order "Pills."
Hermione furrows her brow and asks "Your antiretrovirals?" I stare in despondency.
Charlie looks around, before grabbing them from the bed side table and reading the label.
He pulls one out and offers it to me. Solemnly, I open my mouth, just a crack, and allow him to drop it in.
When I dry swallow it, Ginny sighs "Draco, please get up."
I sniffle, before insisting in a glum manner "Leave me alone."
Charlie sighs and states "I'm not going to leave you alone when y-" for the first time, I look to him and he falls silent.
I speak, dryly "Please?"
He sets his jaw, before giving a short nod. In silence, they slip out of my room and I continue to stare into the darkness.
