Hey guys! I'm soooo sorry that I haven't continued writing this story for so long but I was really busy. I am trying to post a new chapter more often. Thank you for your patience and have fun! :)

"I'm sorry, Levi.", I heard Wendy's voice whisper softly next to me and felt the gentle pressure of her hand again. However, my eyes could only rest on the lifeless body in front of us. It was strange for me to know that the survival artist Kenny was dead so suddenly. He had been able to save himself from every conceivable situation, had always been one step ahead of lurking death and this was all over now. As clichéd and cheesy as it sounded, he even looked almost peaceful. The bitter expression that had always characterized him was gone. What exactly was his last thought?

"Do you want to stay with him a little longer?", Wendy asked quietly next to me and for the first time I really thought I was glad she was there. It was kind of good that someone was with me. But then my old self came back slowly and I remembered the essentials. After all, it was Kenny who taught me how to focus on the most important things. He would have laughed at me loudly if I had kneeled in front of him longer, not knowing what I should feel and think.

"No.", I said, looking at Wendy, "We have to go back.". She seemed surprised by my statement because she tilted her head slightly and her eyes widened.

"Are you sure?", she asked carefully and to support my answer, I got up. I gently let go of her hand and turned my back on Kenny's dead body not having to watch him any longer.

"Yes. We have to report to the others. Marley and his people seem to be very close to here,", I said and then started to move. I knew she was going to follow me and also I couldn't stand it any longer to see this tree with my uncle in front of it. For a moment it felt pretty heartless to just leave his dead body there, but unfortunately we just didn't have the time for something like that. I heard Wendy's footsteps behind me and assessed our surroundings. We were not allowed to become inattentive now.

We purposefully ran back to the place where we had split up, but a few steps before that, a few sounds almost made my heart stand still. We heard calls, footsteps and the clank of weapons hitting each other.

"Oh no.", Wendy breathed alarmed behind me and without even discussing it, we immediately ran off. As quickly as our legs could carry us, we ran back to the tree clearing where the abandoned warehouse was.

What we saw terrified both of us. The Marley people were faster than we were!

I saw Erwin and a few more of my comrades fighting bitterly against people in dark blue clothes. However, our opponents seemed to be outnumbered and I already discovered bleeding wounds on some of my comrades. We were too late! We hadn't been able to warn them! When did they come up here?

"We have to help them!", Wendy called next to me and was the first of us to respond. She was already running before I could do anything about it.

"No!", I screamed after her, because I couldn't let her plunge into the fight head over heels! But she had long since disappeared into the fray.

"Damn it.", I swore, growling softly, summoning two elongated swords and running too. I almost blindly put down some of our opponents, my eyes always fixed on the entire battlefield. I absolutely had to find Wendy, because I had already lost my two friends in another fight in this place and I could not allow this fate to happen again!

I caught sight of Erwin, who had let go of the people in blue suits and was facing a man about his age. He had a thick, light beard and round glasses and glared at Erwin. He was dressed differently from the rest of our opponents and his powerful and dangerous demeanor left no doubt in my mind that this man must surely be that ominous Marley. This man was to blame for Kenny's death, it shot through my head, but I immediately focused on my fight again. I couldn't let myself be distracted by something like this now!

I instinctively ran towards Erwin. Even though I kept trying to spot Wendy, I was still drawn in his direction. I instinctively wanted to assist Erwin in the fight because I owed him that. Only a few more steps separated me from him and our opponent Marley when suddenly a large and bulky figure pushed into my path. I stopped abruptly and looked into Reiner's dark and bearded face. From glittering eyes he looked down at me angrily and I saw how he was already beginning to harden his skin and swing out his fist.

He was here too? This question shot through my head when I could just duck under his blow. Half-bent, I tried to ram one of my swords into his side, but even then he had already hardened his body. With a scratching and clinking sound, my sword shattered against his skin as if it were made of glass.

While he was about to hit the next blow, I jumped out of his reach for a short moment to summon a new sword. However, I had the bad feeling that such weapons would not do anything against this enemy. Just as I was still trying to figure out how to make this armored Reiner harmless, my gaze finally found the blue hair that I had been looking for all along.

Wendy ran with enormous determination and was already covered with a few injuries to another enemy whom I knew only too well. It was Bertholt who also ran to her with a loud battle cry. This sight alone made me terrified. What actually almost brought my heart to a standstill was that I spotted Annie, quietly and unnoticed, approaching Wendy from behind at a disturbing speed. Unsuspecting of the impending danger behind her, Wendy ran wildly towards Bertholt without realizing that this was obviously a trap!

Without even paying attention to Reiner in front of me for a second, I dashed off because my only instinct was to somehow get to her. But the moment my legs started to move, I already felt that I was going to be too late, just like I did then.

"Wendy!", I screamed as loud as I could to somehow warn her and forced my body to run even faster. Almost as if in slow motion, Wendy turned her head, alarmed by my scream, and saw the impending danger at that moment. Then she looked directly at me and an innocent, almost apologetic look was in her eyes.

It was really just like it was then.
