It took three days for me to meet Blackhat, and honestly, I can't say it's what I thought it would be. Flug and I had been just setting up some things in the lab for some video he'd said was scheduled. He showed me the organization website before, some of the various services and inventions devices that the doctor had made before. I found the ad Dementia made for the 'Liquid Lizard' pretty amusing honestly. I didn't figure I'd be in the video, but about ten minutes before Flug handed me a lab coat.

"What's this for?" I asked, looking at it in confusion.

"Well, you did help me make them, you should at least be in the demo videos. You don't mind, do you? It's ok if you're camera shy." I'm sure by now he's figured out I don't enjoy being filmed, but I don't look the same as I once did. It was probably fine.

"Yeah, ok, but I sure hope you're doing the explaining." I pulled off my hoodie to have the jacket fit, scratching the crook of my arms briefly. I was just wearing my tank top now and I could see him focusing on the needle marks I had.

"...y/n...I don't want to overstep, but.."

I smiled faintly and shook my head. "Don't worry, it's not some drug abuse. It's old medical stuff. I promise, you ever seen me come in looking out of it?" He shook his head and I shrugged on the coat, fixing the sleeves.

"Ok, just...I'd be in a lot of trouble, you know? Blackhat doesn't like people who come in that cant work efficiently." I understood of course, and if I had the choice I never would've had them to begin with.

"Of course. So, when's he coming in?" As if he heard me from afar, which is more than likely, the man himself was right behind me, smiling widely.

"Hello y/n." I turned around slowly, seeing Flug tense slightly.

"...I don't know why I thought you were taller." I said it without really thinking, and I could see the confusion on his face.

"What?" His brow was furrowed and his one visible eye was narrowed. Clearly no one just comments on his height.

"Nothing, Nothing. Good to meet you." I tried to brush it off quickly, not needing some highly powerful villain as an angry boss. I walked away quickly to set up the device, turning back to see Flug had  set up the camera and stepped over by Blackhat. I took up a spot just behind him by the device and kept a neutral gaze, listening to Blackhat give his intro.

"Hello all you aspiring villains out there. It is I, Blackhat, with another remarkable device to make eliminating the annoying white knights in your life that much easier."

Flug picked up the device to show it off, a small little contraption shaped much like a cube. "This small device is capable of wiping out an entire power grid with just the right code, or even sending a directed concussive blast with a different one." Honestly, the cube looked like a puzzle cube. It was my idea to make it look less like the invention it is, to appeal more to deceptive or intelligent buyers rather than just it being obviously an invention. It had several functions, but Flug chose two simple ones for the advertising. He turned a few dials and I looked down just in time to watch myself be inverted, my feet now on the ceiling.

"Flug! What did that infernal device do!?" Blackhat loomed over Flug even from this odd angle, Flug cowering back.

"I-it's another one of the features of the device sir! It has several!"

"Who would want a device to do this??"

I cut in as I walked over to cord Flug and I had set up the last time this happened, as a way to get down. "I would use it to disorient a hero on my tail. Who expects to find themselves suddenly running on the ceiling? Plus, then you could put more traps on your ceiling, using their shock to an advantage." Of course, this could work on more power than brain using heroes, but Blackhat seemed satisfied with the answer, looking at the cube and tossing it at me. "Get me down. Now."

I grabbed Flug's arm and turned the cube a few times, the room reverting and I slid down the cord with Flug to the floor. "Well, that wasn't a complete disaster. At least nothing is broken." I handed the device to Flug and turned off the camera, Blackhat standing in front of me.

"So, y/n, what do you think of my organization?" He was smiling and it was pretty unsettling.

"Um..it's fine...seems profitable." That's about all I had. All I've done is work here for a couple days, it wasn't much.

"Good, and you should know that if you try to betray any of our secrets to heroes, I will rip your guts out and feed them dementia, understood?" His smile grew sickeningly wide, and I could see the coldness in his eyes. There was no room for sympathy or forgiveness in him.

"...of course. I'm just here to be a lab hand. Nothing more. Anything I see stays with me." I took a step back, feeling an oppressive weight on my chest. For a moment it was hard to breathe.

"Good. Flug, I want the video up by tonight and you two had better start working on something else. You're not paid to sit around and enjoy yourselves." He stalked out and I released a calming breath, looking back at Flug. He was putting something away and it looked a lot like the ray gun he'd had the first day I met him.

"Well, that's about as much praise as we'll get from Blackhat. Are you ok?"

"Me? I'm fine, intimidation isn't foreign to me. I am surprised he bothered though."

The doctor chuckled and sat at his desk. "He didn't bother to, he just enjoys scaring people."

I went over to sit by him and help him edit the video. "He's like a reality troll, just doing stuff for the fun of it. Kinda funny actually." I chuckled faintly and we put together the video and posted it along with the cube, labeling it the Disaster Cube. Soon after we called it a day and I went home, but when I got there I found something unsettling on the doorstep. It was a scarf and a pair of glasses, sunglasses, old ones that were dark and cracked. Sitting with them was a letter and I felt my whole body go cold as I went inside to read it.

"It's so good to see you out and about these days y/n. I feared we lost you in the fire. Seems you got away though. I see you're working with villains, as I always knew you would. Just don't get too comfortable with the ones you've found. They're using you just as I did, but at least mine was for the greater good. Be careful where your faith lies. I'll be around to visit you soon. Until then, tell the good Professor I said hello.

Yours heroically,

Medicman"
