NieR Automata (Human x 2B)

"Are they dead?"

"No, I don't think so."

"They're warm... still squishy." Poking. I stirred, forcing my eyes open. Both 2B and 9S loomed over me, watching my every movement.

"Guys... you gotta stop watching me sleep..." I chuckled, grogginess filling my voice like water into a cup.

"It's interesting though!" 9S objected.

"And I don't know whether you'll die or not. I don't know how you function..." 2B still hadn't replaced her visor. I could see those beautiful, blue eyes once again. That's when I realized she was staring at me.

"What?" I smirked as pink rose in her cheeks.

"I just... nothing..."

"YoHRa unit 2B's pulse rate rose rapidly in the last few seconds. Alert. Alert." The pod had a small flashing red light.

"Shut up!"

"We've been here for a while, you two can flirt while we're moving." 9S smirked, messing about with some form of technology I had never seen before.

"We're not..." 2B began, before deciding against arguing further and holding her own hand. She watched the ground, eyebrows furrowed.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Birds? Clouds. A broken roof..."

"Nice to know, but whats wrong?"

"The opposite of right."

"You know what I mean."

"I do..."

"So?"

"It's nothing, a waste of time. Let's go."

"Go where?"

"Nines--9S?" I tried to prevent myself from giggling.

"You said it again!!" 9S barreled over towards 2B, with what I could assume was a determined expression.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"My nickname! You heard it right, Rei?!" 9S flicked his attention to me, his hair lifting with the speed. 2B glared.

"I dunno... all I heard was 9S?"

"Let's stop waiting our time on trivial subjects. Where is our next assignment, 9S?"

"We need to go back to the Resistance camp and speak to..." His voice trailed off as I analysed 2B's features, the ones now free from the cage of her visor. In the short amount of time I've known her... do I like 2B?

I followed the two androids into a small field, trees and bushes dotted around randomly. It was obvious to see that Machines ruled this small patch of ground. A small stream ran through the grass, where a few Machines seemed to be playing. Suddenly, a large, bronze structure lumbered out into the sunlight, the metal shining, dazzling me. It's arms were huge and looked like if you made one false move, they would crush you easily.

"You guys stay back..." I ran ahead of the two, drawing my sword.

"But-" The Machines eye flashed red as it saw me, pulling its arms upward, it swung down, making the ground shake beneath me. I composed myself and began attacking its hand until it couldn't be moved. "Rei!!" The opposite arm swung down. Just as I prepared myself for it to make contact with the ground... it didn't. I glanced upward to see 2B lodging her sword into its eye, her visor now reequipped. "Die, die, die." She muttered as she thrust her weapon into its head countless times, the metal often pulling out with fuel and stray wires attached to it.
