No POV:

Emma was born different than other kids, she didn't bleed when she got cut or age like anyone else. Her skin is like porcelain, it cracks and shatters by doesn't bleed, yet it still heals like any other wound would. For this reason her parents hated her even though it was something she couldn't even have control over. The situation only got worse when her parents would decide to drink, the one who was supposed to be her dad would hit her until she looked more shattered than a bottle of broken glass, and her 'mother' would just stand there and watch, and no matter how much Emma would scream or cry for her momma to make her dad stop hitting her, but nothing would happen and the next day the cycle would repeat.

Then one day when Emma was in her room she heard someone come onto the house and start yelling at her mom and dad, and then what sounded like a gun going off to be followed by the sound of someone crying and pleading not to die before the second shot went off, and then the noises stopped. Leaving only the sound of the shooters boots clicking on the floor as they seemed to be getting closer and closer with each second.

Time seemed to stop as the clicking started to come to a halt. That's when Emma climbed out of her bedroom window and dashed into the woods not looking back once. After what felt like hours of running the sun was starting to set, and then Emma realized she was lost in the woods with no where to go. As all hope was beginning to fade but then Emma saw a house in the middle of hundreds of tree's. She ran to the house and tried to open the door but it was locked, she went around to the side of the house realizing that there was a window that was low enough she could reach. She went to the window and tried to open it to find it unlocked, she opened the window and climbed through it, creating a loud thud as she landed on the other side of the window.

She winced in pain as she realized that after climbing through the window, she had cut herself on the ledge that framed it. It wasn't until later when she noticed that a person was standing before her, and all she could do was sit there and watch the lady before her in fear as the thought of what happened to her parents might happen to her. Then the lady who was standing in front of her left the room only to return a few minutes later with a medical kit, "Hello there, what's your name?" The woman asked her. "I'm Emma" She whispered still too scared to move, then the lady said her name was Alina and asked Emma how she had got here, "I'm n-not sure, I only remember being alone in the w-woods before I found this house, I'm s-sorry I didn't realize that someone lived here." Emma stuttered out as she tried her best not to cry while avoiding eye contact, she hated bothering people, especially sense her father would call her a burden before hitting her and calling her all sorts of other things.

Then Alina started to speak again " Hey, it's okay don't worry about it, do you have any parents I could contact?" That's when Emma couldn't hold back the tears anymore and looked straight at Alina, and let out a barely audible "No..." that's when Alina said something that shocked Emma "Ok then, do you want to stay here with me tonight?" No one had ever been so nice to Emma before let alone a stranger, "R-really?!!" Emma exclaimed not believing it to be true. Alina responded again shocking Emma with the fact that anyone could be so nice to her "yes, I'm sure. Now do you want to sleep on the couch or in my room?" Emma pondered this for a moment before answering, "your r-room, if it's ok." She says its fine and grabs out some hydrogen peroxide from the medical kit to clean out Emma's cut, "This might sting a little bit, but it should help." Alina tried to reassure Emma as she expected to hear her wince in pain as she poured the hydrogen peroxide on the cut, but Emma didn't even flinch.

After that Alina had bandaged Emma's leg to keep the cut from getting infected, she then took Emma upstairs to her room and made sure she was comfortable before she got herself ready for bed. Emma was already out like a light by the time Alina was done getting ready, as she slept memories from earlier that day flooded her mind, finally sinking in that she had lost both of her parents. The smallest sound came out of Emma's mouth as the memories kept coming "...mama..."
