Alina's POV:
Yesterday faded away as a new day took its place. I woke up to birds chirping outside the window and Emma still sound asleep, I got out of bed as quite as possible in order to not wake the small girl who was still sleeping soundly.
I walked downstairs to the bathroom so I could get ready for the day, after I finished brushing my teeth, it was only a few minutes later when I heard tiny footsteps come down the stairs. I walked out of the bathroom to see a very confused Emma leaning over the railing on the stairs acting as if something bad was going to happen any second, which only caused my curiosity to grow.
I went into the kitchen and searched the fridge for anything left over from the beginning of this month's shopping, seeing I only had a few blood bags left from the last time I went hunting and a slightly rotting apple. I let out a slow sigh as I closed the fridge as Emma walks in, "Hey are you awake enough to go to the store?" I ask as she just gives me a weird look like she doesn't know what a store is, "It's a place where people go to buy things, like food and cloths." I say trying my best to explain it to her. She still looks at me a little confused but nods her head yes anyways, I go back upstairs and change my clothes, wishing I had something small enough for the little girl to were other than the on her oversize t-shirt I gave her to wear last night.
I finished changing and went back downstairs. I saw Emma waiting on the couch for us to get going, she looked like she was still trying to understand what a store was when I walked up to her. "Are you ready to go?" She nodded he head yes and we went into my car heading straight to the store. It took about an hour to get there, but the look Emma had on her face when we got out of the car made it completely worth it. She had the biggest smile I've ever seen on anyone's face before and you could see her eyes sparkling with wonder of what could be inside the giant building before her.
I went to reach for Emma's hand but when my hand got close, she flinched and looked at me the same way she did yesterday when she first saw me. "I was going to hold your hand, so you don't get lost in the store. Is that ok?" I asked her. Her face slowly settled back into a more peaceful expression and then she nodded yes. I held her hand as we walked into the store that had almost everything you would ever need. I grabbed a shopping cart and started walking around the store looking for items I need to restock and a few things for Emma.
After around 20 minutes of walking I had finally found most of the items I needed to restock, and I was just about to turn the corner when something caught my eye. I turned around and found the aisle I was looking for, the Kid's section, I walked over there and then I looked at Emma. The look on her face was of pure confusion and excitement. "What do we need from this aisle?" Emma pipped up, "Well, I don't own any cloths that would fit you so I'm going to get you some." I explained, but she just looked confused for a moment and then sad."N-no one has e-ever gotten me anything like this before..." She whispered looking at me, "Hey don't worry about it ok?" I said "Ok..." she responded.
I had gotten her a lot of outfits and a few toys when she wasn't looking. Then I paid for the stuff and we finally left the store around 11:35, just in time for us to get home for lunch.
(Time skip)
After me and Emma ate lunch, I decided to look for a movie we.could watch so we wouldn't just have to sit around and do nothing. After a few minutes of searching I finally found a good one we could watch, Paddington, I put the movie in and sat on the couch with Emma as the previews started to play.
When the movie ended, I got up from the couch and headed towards the kitchen so I could start working on dinner for me and Emma so that we could both get some rest afterwards. As I began to cook Emma walked into the kitchen and sat at the table like she wanted to ask something, but she stayed quiet until I had finished cooking and put a plate of food in front of her. "Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked startling me a little and before I had the chance to say anything she started to speak again "Everyone I have ever meet before has treated me like I was a freak because of the way I am, they would call me names and hit me, my parents included, but you didn't. You let me stay here, you bought me cloths, you even clean up the cut on my leg and held my hand. So ,why are you being so nice to me?" When she said this, it sounded like there was no emotion tied to it, just pure curiosity.
I didn't know what to say while she was talking but before I even realized what was happening, I started to talk to her. "Because I know what it feels like to be different, and to feel like your all alone even when your surrounded by others, and I promise that no matter what I will treat you like I would treat any other kid." I finished saying and smiled as she looked up. I then watched her climb down from her chair and walk over to me and right before I was going to say something she hugged me like I was the only thing keeping her alive. The feeling I got from not being alone any more was so amazing that I couldn't help but hug back.
