This is the story of Void.

[Warning mention of physical and emotional abuse. If you find this triggering or its not something you want to read feel free to leave]

All Void can remember about her life before is pain. She was just 5 years old when she saw her dad hit her mom for the first time. She remembers trying to comfort her twin when Dad's screaming matches got too loud, so loud that it seemed to shake the whole house in it wake.

She was 8 when she found out the reason her Dad beat her mom was for something she couldn't change. Her Mom had magic running through her veins like water. It was beautiful and calm, yet her father hated it.

She can still remember her Dad's words to her Mom "I Can't Believe I Was Stupid Enough To Believe I Could Actually Love A Freak Like you!!" His voice dripped in venom. The same voice that made her heart shatter to dust.

The same voice that called her Mother a freak, the same voice that told her Mom that the only reason he let her mom live this long was because of her and her brother.

That's the night she swore to keep the same magic that ran through her veins like her Mother's did a secret. The night she swore to help keep the same magic that ran through her brother a secret.

By the time she was 17 her Mother had died. Her body finally done with every slap, kick, fractured rib, or broken bone thrown its way. Finally done with 9 consistent years of abuse. Finally being free.

After her Mom died her and her brother walked on eggshells around the man they called their Dad. Each terrified that their Dad will find out about the secret they kept for years on end, scared they would end up like their Mom. Broken to the point you pray for god to finally give you peace an let you die.

But this was only the beginning. 6 months after their Mom had died their Dad had started to leave the house, and to you that might not seem like a bad thing. But he went for being gone for a day or two up to months on end with barely enough money to get them through two weeks. He would come back covered in blood with cuts all over or on the rare occasion with zero wounds, but no matter what he always seemed to be covered in blood when he came back.

That's when her and her brother started to make a plan to escape, a plan to finally be free.

Eventually they turned 19 and like always their Dad was off doing god knows what. That's when they decided to put the plan into action.

They went up to their rooms and grabbed as much clothes as they could and packed it into a backpack each having around 50 dollars each from saving up as much as they could. Before going down stairs. They were half way out the back door when they heard the car pull up into the drive way. The sound of the car they had come to fear. Dad was home.

They dashed as fast as they could out the back not looking back, even when the yelling that always seemed to shake the house became no more than a whisper in their ears. It wasn't until Void could run any more that she noticed her brother was no were to be seen.

She was going to call for him when she heard the distinctive grumble of the car engine she had come to fear.

She could feel her heart beating out of her chest her lungs still gasping for air. But it didn't matter as the only thing she could do was keep running.

Her legs threatened to give out yet she knew the farther she got away the more chance she had of actually being free.

By the time she finally felt safe, feeling like she didn't have to run it had already been 3 days sense she left. Three days sense she has had a meal, and three days sense she has seen her brother.
