"Mama, up!"
"Baby go back to sleep."
I bury my head further into the pillow hoping she listens as I close my eyes.
"Mammmmma!"
"It snoooowing!"
"What?"
I shoot up turning towards her to see that Brad already has her dressed in a little snowsuit.
"But it's not supposed to snow until next week."
"Yeah, about that..." Brad opens the curtains to reveal a frosted window "I may have been looking at the wrong forecast on the flight here."
"Shit."
"She's already successfully escaped outside twice wearing only her underwear, just to cry because she's freezing when I pull her back in. So I decided to put her in this since she learned how to open the back door."
I look over at Sienna to see her smirking as he says all this, obviously proud of herself for managing to get outside alone.
"Where did you even find that? It covers half her legs."
"I get big mama." She stretches to show me all her growth "I need new."
"I found it in the closet. It must have been one of the girls when we had them here last in the winter. I was kinda hoping her boots would cover that."
"And her arms? You know there's no way she's keeping any gloves on that are long enough to cover that gap."
"I didn't think the whole outfit through, but I do think that thrift store down the street might have something."
"Well you can gladly go looking but she stays here. We can't have her go out like that."
I grab Sienna before she darts out the door after him and force myself to get ready for the day while she follows me around not wanting to leave my side.
"Mama have gwovs?"
"Yeah baby they're in my jacket. Me and dada are going to wear ours, so you need to keep yours on too. We don't want your fingers getting cold."
"We go play?"
"As soon as we can get you all bundled up we will."
I search through the apartment rapidly trying to find any extra scarfs we might have to make sure she stays warm. She digs through all her clothing while I do this, making a mess trying to put on every sweater we brought with.
"Sienna please don't keep throwing things on the floor. Me and dada will make sure you're warm enough, we don't want your clothes getting dirty."
"I just helpinnn!"
"I know you are but you're making a mess too. Let's just keep what you have on and go eat. Did dada feed you yet?"
She shakes her head no so I grab her and walk towards the kitchen where Brad has everything out for her cereal, but she doesn't want anything to do with it because it isn't in the same box as the kind we have in LA.
I go to pour the cereal but she flips out causing a huge mess.
"Noooooo!" She throws herself on the floor right in front of me bawling her eyes out as she makes her way over to the empty suitcase she has been playing with "I go home!"
"Okay, you can go home and get your other cereal but you have to go alone. Good luck getting to the airport."
She carefully pokes her little head out of the suitcase to look up and make sure I'm watching her as she dramatically climbs out.
I quickly come up with a lie and pour a bunch in a bowl for her so she doesn't complain about being hungry the minute we finally get outside.
"Well, the warmest snowsuit they had was a size too big, but I figure you'll probably have a million layers of clothing on her so I got it anyway."
"Of course I am. We can't have her getting cold."
He goes to get himself some warmer clothing while I watch her eat to make sure she doesn't try dumping it on the floor before it's all gone. She mumbles the whole time, looking out the window to point out everything she knows about the snow.
We manage to get her to eat everything before the hard part of redressing her without her trying to take the clothing off.
"Jen you've put 2 sweaters and a jacket on her already. Anything else and she wont fit in the snowsuit."
"Would you rather listen to her bitch about being cold? It's one or the other. You know that."
"Jen, she's one. She bitches about everything. Her stuffed animal fell out of her arm this morning and she yelled at me for like 10 minutes."
"And I'm trying to prevent that from happening again."
I manager to fight with her enough that she let's me put a few pairs of leggings on her before Brad shoves her boots on and we make our way towards the door.
"Jen our child can't even move her arms you have so much on her. How is she supposed to have any fun?"
"I can run?"
"Exactly. Don't listen to dada. You can go out and run. You'll find a way to have fun."
Brad turns her sideways so she can fit through the door since she can't get her little arms down and I follow them out recording the whole thing so we don't miss out on any of it. She waddles around in circles not knowing what to do while Brad and I stand watching, amazed at her curiosity.
"She does look cute all bundled up." he pulls me closer as we continue watching her. I look up at him smiling, leaning in for a kiss "That's because she looks like me. I'm cute."
"Yeah she definitely gets her looks from you. I got the death glare today."
"I've taught her well."
She turns towards us struggling to move since the snow is up to her knees where she is walking. I reach out to catch her as she starts falling, but she falls too fast and lands face first in the snow causing Brad to laugh like crazy while she balls.
"Mama!" I quickly pick her up to clean off her bright red tear stained face, trying to comfort her as the tears unfortunately continue.
"Mama I cold."
She sniffles between tears burying her face in my chest as she clings on to me while Brad continues laughing wanting her to keep playing.
"Sienna you have to run around more and you'll warm up!" He starts running around in a circle but she wants nothing to do with it.
"Dada stop! You fall!"
"He's okay, baby."
He reaches over to take her, trying to cheer her up since she's obviously horrified of snow now.
"Babe maybe we should just take her in. She's still crying, she doesn't want to be out here."
"She just needs to have more fun and she'll love it."
He starts falling over himself and I reach out to help since I don't want them getting hurt, but it just makes all of us fall with Sienna laying between us.
"Of course now she thinks it's funny."
"That's because it is. It's funny when dada's wrong."
