Sienna's Surprise

"You look so beautiful, baby.  Are you excited for tonight?"

"I watch mama's movie!"

I laugh standing her up so I can force her dress on her.  She throws her arms up to make it a little easier all while dancing around to show how excited she is for her first premiere.

"Are you sure you don't want any help with her while you're there?" Chris helps me hold her still to zipper up the dress "I'm already going, I'll gladly help keep my favorite child from running into the backdrop."

"Thanks, but I think we'll be good.  She knows to hold my hand and stay with me or she doesn't get her surprise."

"Hey Sienna," He gets her attention smiling at me as he tries to ruin my plans "Are you going to run around and dance for everyone?  You can tell them all about mama's new movie."

She looks from Chris to me, not sure who to agree with since she very clearly is full of energy, but also wants her 'pise'.

"I hold mama hand and dance?"

"You can do that.  As long as you hold my hand you can do whatever you want."

I hold her on my lap so Chris can work on taming her huge knotted mess of hair while she holds my phone to call Brad.

"He busy?"

"I think he's working, baby.  He'll call you back if he can."

I take my phone back secretly happy he didn't answer and ruin the surprise since he's on his way home now.

She tries to tell Chris all about the movie even though she hasn't seen it yet, and can only say about 5 words clearly.  He listens carefully to entertain her and keep her still while he fights with her hair.

"You have to start being better for mama so she can brush your hair.  Look how pretty and long it is when it isn't full of knots."

"But it ouchies."

"She says I give her ouchies every time I touch her hair.  It's really fun here in the mornings when she doesn't want to cooperate."

She looks up at Chris smirking, knowing she's being bad when she does all this, even if she doesn't care.

"We go now?"

"Yeah, we just have to go to the car.  They're waiting for us."

Chris gets a picture of me holding Sienna before I throw a bunch of random shit into my purse to make sure she's occupied until we get there. She tries to mimic everything I do once we get there leading to some adorable pictures.  She looks up at me every few seconds to make sure she can clearly see everything I'm doing.

She holds my hand tightly as I walk and she shows off all her twirls and dance moves to everyone around.  Her little skirt flies up exciting her every time she twirls making her even more excited to show off.

"Hi! You two look amazing! I love your dress, Sienna."

"It's pink!" She jumps around yelling into the poor women's mic "And sparkles."

"She obviously picked it out, I think it was a very hard decision for her too.  There was a purple one that's identical.  We were in that shop for way too long."

"Well I think it was the perfect choice. It's great for all your dancing."

Sienna, loving the attention she's getting, now has a new best friend and never wants to leave her side.  She twirls around showing off to the interviewer as we talk.

"So, this movie is a complete twist from Friends.  What made you decide you wanted something different?"

"Mama looooves Friends."

"I just wanted a change of pace.  It was really fun to go back to the movie atmosphere, and I loved getting to film something I knew she could watch."

"Are you more interested in doing projects focused more on children's interests now?"

"I really loved filming this one and all the childlike aspects of it, but I love the adult humor-"

"Mama!" Sienna cuts me off, tugging on my arm and points towards some toys behind us "I go play?"

"Just stay with Lisa and Julian, okay?"

I wait for her to run over before continuing my answer.

"Sorry... I loved the childlike aspects, but adult humor is definitely more interesting to me.  It helps me cope with my crazy life too."

"Kinda like free, funny therapy?"

"Yeah, exactly.  It's awesome."

I pose for a few more pictures while trying to keep an eye on Sienna playing at the same time so she doesn't destroy the place.

I turn towards some fans yelling for me when I feel strong arms wrap around my body, knowing exactly who it is. 

"She didn't notice me so I thought I'd come over to you," He leans in for a kiss "Also she's throwing blocks at Julian right now..."

"Shit!  Brad you're supposed to stop her from doing things like that.  Not laugh at her."

He runs over towards where she is, scaring her before catching her as she runs up to him excitedly.  She wraps her little arms around his neck tightly as he walks over towards me.

"Mama, daddy's back!"

"I know, baby.  He wanted to surprise you."

"You wanted me to be here, right?"

"Yeah, I soooo happy!"

Brad wraps his arm around me while holding on tightly to Sienna with his other arm, directing us towards all the excited paparazzi.

"Mama, I want pictures with daddy."

I turn towards her to see her trying to push me out of the way so she can get what she wants, while Brad is laughing hysterically at the situation.

"Sorry, I guess I'm the favorite today."

"She's absolutely beautiful," A reporter greets me as I walk over "Looks like you got kicked out of some good family pictures though."

"Yeah, daddy comes back and I suddenly don't matter anymore.  I only birthed her and fought to get her ready today, but that doesn't seem to matter."

"It's amazing how fast they get swept away.  She's grown so much over the years, how does it feel to have a 3 year old and be filming?"

"Exhausting.  She doesn't care at all when she's having nightmares that I have to be up at 5, and unfortunately there isn't much the directors can do for a sleep deprived mother when you have a schedule to stick to."

I feel little arms wrap around my leg, knowing she must have gotten sick of Brad and decided to come back to me.

"But, then you get to bring them to see what you've worked so hard on, and somehow all that exhaustion is well worth it."
