"You look like you're having fun," Brad finally walks through our bedroom door after a way too long day of filming "I guess she is protesting sleep again?"
"Two ours straight now. Her 'babies' aren't tired, and even though she is a 'little bit but not too much' she can't fall asleep. I finally gave up because it felt like I was going to explode if I didn't start pumping." I look down at the already almost full bottles attached to me through the machine from hell "I think the noise is scaring her a little. She won't talk when it gets loud."
"Yeah it scares me too, thinking how powerful that thing must be."
"It's just doing it's job."
He goes to get ready for bed, leaving me to finish my script in semi quiet since Sienna followed him right into the bathroom so she can tell him all about her exciting day today. I hear her mumbles voice through the door and nothing coming from him letting me know he's finally given up at getting a word in around her.
"Mama!" She bursts out of the bathroom with some very important news "mama, dada say I swim."
"Dada said you can swim right now? In the dark?"
I put my script down, looking her in the eyes.
"Yep."
"So if I go in there and ask him, he'll tell me you can swim?"
She just smirks, watching as I unhook myself from everything to go in and talk to Brad.
"Do I not get any privacy anymore?"
"Did you tell her she can go swimming tonight?"
"No? She told me you told her she can, so I said she better check with you."
He throws on some clean boxers as he dries off from his shower, following me out to see Sisi has successfully changed herself into one of her swim diapers and is trying to open our door.
"I don't think so..." I watch her peek around trying to figure out where I am before she falls from turning to far. She lays on the ground in defeat waiting for one of us to come help her.
"Mama you hurt me!"
"Sienna I'm standing all the way back here."
I try my hardest not to laugh as she runs right past me into Brad's arms expexting him to help her. She cries hysterically while I put all my supplies away, making sure the milk won't go bad since she shows no interest in drinking any right now.
"Dada, mama..." she wipes away her over dramatic tears with the back of her palm "maked me fall."
"I know baby," he rolls his eyes while comforting her "I saw."
He carries her back to bed, letting her hold her babies as she cuddles up to his chest making sure I know she's very upset with me.
"If you're really good tonight and sleep for us I think mama has a surprise for you tomorrow."
He gently strokes her back, letting her calm down from her recent terrifying event.
"Mama what pise?"
"Well, if you sleep really good, I think we can go play at the playground all day tomorrow with your cousins."
Her little eyes light up like she's just been given the best news in the whole world. She clutches her babies tighter starting to tell them about all the fun she plans on having, of course letting them know they can 'come wif but no scawy slide'.
"So maybe she isn't too mad at you anymore for making her fall."
"I was a hundred feet away from her. There's no way I made her fall."
"I don't know, babe. She was pretty convinced it was you that did it."
"She was also pretty convinced hours before you got home that you're the one who spilled her juice and laid a blanket down to hide it."
"Gotta give her some credit there, sounds like something I would do."
I lean over her tiny, finally resting body to reach Brad's soft lips for a kiss.
"No mama, no kiss to dada."
Sienna's little hand pushes my face away, making room for her head between our faces.
"Dada only kiss me."
Brad gives her a quick peck granting her request before she falls back onto his chest glaring at me to make sure I know she still isn't happy with me, even with my surprise.
"I feel like she's just laying there watching me."
"She is. She takes this very seriously, Jen."
He pulls me in closer, having me lay my head next to his much to her dismay since I'm still the awful person that ruined her night and made her fall.
"Baby you're so sleepy, close your eyes."
She covers my mouth with her hand as a way to get me quiet while telling her babies a very intriguing good night story.
"Should we tuck your babies in really tight? Like you?"
"Yeah, dada."
She yawns, forcing her eyes to stay open while Brad very carefully wraps up her babies to keep them from having any bad dreams. He makes sure she can still reach in to hold their little hands while she continues talking them to sleep.
I pull her over once I can tell she's tired enough that she won't fight me anymore, placing her on my chest while she squirms around.
"Bubba?"
"Yeah, go ahead baby."
She latches on immediately forgiving me for the awful events earlier while her little feet rest on Brad, occasionally kicking him in the face.
"So the weaning seems to be going great."
"I know... I've been taking it slow. I'm only pumping twice a day and only feeding her at night and in the morning but she's not liking it too much."
"Gotta say, I'm gonna miss it a little too. It's been nice up until now to just have your boobs calm her down. Especially with all the time out meltdowns, I kinda wish you could keep going."
"I know. I worry about how it'll be for a little, but I have to stop before she's two. I can't do this forever. I want to be done by next month."
"Well, we'll make it work."
