Chapter 23: Working in Pairs!?

~Kelly's POV~

For the first time in a while I had a reason to get up in the morning and that was Art Club. Since they said the theme was blue I wore a blue and white dress with white shoes.

I went downstairs to find Ein waiting with breakfast.

"Where's my mother?" I asked.

"I don't know. She left when I got here." He replied.

"Oh." I replied sitting down.

"You look really pretty today." He complimented me.

"Thanks." I replied sarcastically.

"No, really. I mean it." He said causing me to look from my food to see his face. He seemed genuine.

"Okay." I replied going back to eating.

"Do you like the food?" He asked.

"It's okay." I replied not wanting to have a conversation with him.

"Well, you're welcome." He stated proudly.

"You made this?" I asked.

"Yup." He replied with a grin.

"...Why?" I asked confused.

"Cause I wanted to." He replied looking at me.

"..." I didn't know how to respond. On one hand I thought it was sweet but on the other had he's not the same person I used to know.

"I want us to get along again....." He muttered sounding devastated.

Hearing him say that made me feel guilty.

'Was I too harsh? I mean he's really trying to get us to become friends... Should I give him a chance?... Ugh! I think about this right now. At this rate I'll be late.'

"Let's go. You don't want to be late do you?" I asked.

"Okay." He replied leading the was to the vehicle.

We went to school and my day was the same as always. My dress got soiled with trash when I got tossed in the bin. I had to wash it in the bathroom and leave it to dry in my locker.

I wore my gym uniform throughout the day. Which made random people bully me, call me mean names and a few guys to slap or pinch my behind. During Gym class every girl targeted me with the dodgeball. Even the girls on my own team.

Luckily my bruises healed and my dress dried before art club time. As soon as History class ended I grabbed my stuff then headed to the art club. When I got there I greeted Mint then changed into my dress.

Mint was wearing a pink shirt with blue overalls and shoes. Shortly everyone arrived wearing blue outfits. Ryder came last wearing expensive blue T-shirt, jeans and Nike Air Max shoes.

'Of course the jerk wore expensive clothes.' I thought rolling my eyes.

He glanced at me then avoided looking at me for some reason.

"Okay, so today we'll work in pairs." Mint announced.

"Umm... Isn't the number of members uneven now?" Aisha asked.

"Someone will have to work alone-" Mint said before she was cut off.

"I'll-" Ryder got cut off by Mint

"You'll work with Kellian-" She said then got cut off again.

"No! I don't want to work with an air headed blueberry!" Ryder yelled.
