Chapter 4: "Why?"

~Third Person POV~

     "Y-yes Sir Rhodes." She stuttered still using perfect English all of a sudden completely losing her accent.

     Kellian bearly managed to hold in her laughter of the irony. 'So his first name is Ryder and his last is roads. Lol! So his middle name should be of.'

     Her thoughts were cut short when she suddenly realized the harsh glares she was recieving from the lunch lady. Ryder also noticed and increased his glares tenfold so they were basically death glares sharper than a brand new knife.

     She grumbled and went to fetch Kellian's food. Kellian was in shock. 'An adult bending to the will of a teenager... What kind of links does this guy have for that to happen?' She questioned.

    Not long after Hagatha came back with Kellian's tray of food. She then held out her had to Kellian avoiding Ryder's gaze. "I-um–" Kellian tried to say something but Ryder cut her off.

  "I'm paying." He said then held out a $500 bill.

    "What!? I can't let you do that!" Hagatha said pushing his hand away getting some whipped cream on him.

     He stared and his hand and his left eye started to twitch. "Fine then you pay." Ryder said irritated, disgust written all over his face.

      Hagatha smiled and nodded reluctantly thinking he was referring to Kellian. Ryder realized then said, "Blueberry grab your your food we're leaving she agreed on paying."

    The lunch lady's jaw dropped processing what just happened as they walked away together.

     'How dare that disgusting human hussy get that stupid rich brat on her side and get him to trick me!!!! She made a big mistake messing with me!!!  And that brat he's lucky I can't lay a finger on him because I would have already ruined him for demoting me to this horrible lunch lady job!!' Hagatha mentally screamed bending the serving spoon in her hand.

     As Ryder and Kellian were walking to their table clown girl from this morning tripped Kellian while she pretended to walk by. Ryder looked torn on which one to catch. In the end he decided to catch the food.

     Kellian grabbed on to clown girls dress desperately trying not to hit the ground but alas she still fell.

"Eeeekkkkk!!!!!" Clown girl yelped.

     "Ouch,  huh pink fabric?" Kellian asked herself aloud looking in her hand. It was only when she looked up seeing clown girl's white and pink panties she realized what happened.

     Everyone laughed even Ryder and some even took pictures while she ran away crying. Ryder held the tray of food in one hand and helped up Kellian with the other.

     When everyone calmed down a bit and Ryder were near their table she hugged him causing his cheeks had a slight blush and he frezee not knowing what to do.

     "Thanks for offering to pay for me and saving my food back there." Kellian said whole-heartedly.

     "Just because I did that doesn't mean we're friends now got that?" He said looking away his cheeks now a shade of scarlet red.

     "Mhm Mhm. Sure." She replied thinking he didn't mean any of it because if he did he wouldn't have helped in the first place.

~Kellian POV~

     I followed Ryder to the table and sat down beside Leo and Ryder sat beside another guy I've never seen before he seems to also be their friend. He had blond hair and deep blue eyes even deeper than Mariana Trench which is the deepest natural trench in the ocean.

       He was the tallest out of the three. Oh and I failed to mention before but they would all have ears and tails that match their hair colour but for some reason, they are choosing to hide them. Well except Ein who had his black ears tail with the ends died blue to match his hair clearly visible.

     "Woah you almost got as much food as Leo are you gonna be able to finish all that?" The blond guy asked.

     "Of course I will!" I said proudly then started stuffing my face with my pizza slice.

"The name's Dexter. You must be Kellian, right?" Dexter asked.

     I nodded now stuffing my face with a burger. I didn't bother asking how he knew my name since Leo probably told him.

     "Well, no wonder you two get along. You both love your stomachs too much." Dexter tried to say under his breath but failed horribly but I just ignored him taking a sip of my drink.

     "Are you calling us greedy!?" Leo asked sounding offended wrapping his arm around my shoulder while I started eating my fries ignoring them both.

     I glanced up at Ryder who looked extremely annoying then I went back to eating.

     "No of course not! She just a girl that likes her food and there's nothing wrong with that. It can even be considered cool how she eats this much and still manages to stay slim. But I am calling you greedy." Dexter finished with a smirk.

"Well, at least I don't depend on my muscles to solve my problems!"

"At least I don't turn into a tomato when a girl is near me."

     They continued arguing with each other while Ryder and I continued eating. Then a question hit me why did Ryder help me?

"Why?" I asked Ryder.

"What?" He responded.

"Why did you help me?"

     "I couldn't stand watching an adult bully a student. Slop is a punishment food for delinquents, you shouldn't have to eat that unless you're being punished, so intervened. Plus I don't like her. Nothing less nothing more." He said looking away probably hiding a blushing face if anime and books taught me anything.

   'Why do I get the feeling there's something more?' I asked myself. "You sure?" I asked unconsciously moving closer like an interrogation.

     "I don't like repeating myself." He replied sounding a bit irritated not even glancing in my direction. Okay... Maybe he wasn't blushing and he just wanted to avoid looking at me.

     I just decided to drop it since our relationship was actually getting better and I didn't want to ruin it. I mean before he wouldn't even talk to me.

     I looked back at Leo and noticed a bandage wrapped around his arm. "What happened to your arm?" I asked him interrupting his squabble with Dexter.

     "Ryder happened." He replied crossing his arms and glaring at Ryder.

     "It's not my fault you decided to draw on my face while I was asleep." Ryder replied calmly taking a sip of his drink.

"I was just a fun prank." Leo said pounting.

     "Then you can call injuries that too." Ryder replied with no emotion taking another sip of his drink.

    'Why did I get my self involved with these guys again...' I mentally face palmed. 'I feel like becoming friends with them is only going to cause trouble... Whatever it's too late now we're already friends.' I thought smiling as I watched Leo grab a popcorn kernel and chucked it at Ryder.

     Ryder retaliated and grab a hotdog of a passing kid's tray a threw at Leo. Soon Dexter and I joined in and a full-on food fight began.
