Rian groggily pried his eyes open. He was in an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room.
"I see you're awake," Uncle Finn entered his room, dressed in modern clothing. His hair was short and he was looking extremely handsome. "How are you?"
"I feel a tad bit tired but it will go away. I always replenish my reserves quickly," Rian explained. "Sorry I broke down on you," Rian muttered in embarrassment.
"Hey, none of that, you hear me?" Finn demanded gently. "It's gonna be fine, mate, we'll find a way to make them remember. Now that I'm a witch, I'll be able to help you."
"Thanks, Uncle Finn, and sorry for ripping you away from your peace," Rian winced, realizing how selfish he had been.
"I don't mind. Bonnie found peace, but I did not. I was alone there, in the afterlife. So I'm glad you pulled me here," Finn winked at him, causing Rian to grin brilliantly at his uncle.
"What was it like, Rian?" Finn asked tentatively, not wanting to spook his nephew with horrible memories of Malivore.
"Dark. The only thing I could see was myself. I was alone," Rian lied, not wanting to betray Ryan Clarke, a man who he came to see as more than just a friend. It's not like telling them about him would bring him back.
"I'm sorry. It was very brave and kind of you to save your sister and everyone from the monsters," Finn told him.
"Don't you see uncle?" Rian asked desperately. "I escaped and the monsters started showing up. I should have stayed there," Rian mumbled dejectedly. "At least Hope would've been safe."
"Hey! don't you dare speak like that, okay? I'm sure our family would agree with me if they remembered. I'm glad that you got out. Hope might've been a tiny bit safer, but she would've been unhappy and miserable," Rian just nodded, he appreciated the kind words.
"C'mon breakfast time," Finn ushered to the bathroom. "Wash yourself and come downstairs, we need to talk about your schooling."
Rian groaned and went to shower. After thoroughly brushing his teeth, he put on his pants and went downstairs, hastily trying to put on a shirt.
He felt two strong hands help him untangle himself from his shirt. He smiled gratefully at his Uncle Finn.
"Hope!" Rian screamed happily, hugging his twin. "I did it, we did it," he smiled.
"Yep, that we did. Uncle Finn and I already caught up, I'm glad that he's back. Dr. Saltzman came here with a proposition," Rian only now noticed the man sitting there looking at him with peculiar facial expression.
"Hey there," Alaric just waved at him in response.
"Hope explained the situation to me, how you jumped into this pit 8 years ago to save everyone. I'm sorry Rian and thank you, sincerely," Alaric told him.
