Chapter 1

Selene's POV

I wear on some dark blue skinny jeans with rip at the knees, a white t-shirt, and a gray and black knitted cardigan to go over it. I put my black knee high boots on.

"Selene, hurry up! we're 10 minutes late!" my brother yelled. I grabbed my  backpack and ran down stairs. I got into Nash's car and he got into the driver's seat.

"I don't know why it takes you so long to get ready," he said. "It's not like you'll ever be attractive. I mean with your looks who will ever want you?"

I flinched at his cruel words, tears prickling at the back of my eyes. I stayed silent during the rest of the car ride. Nash, my brother was right. I was ugly. pathetic,unattractive, and worthless.

When we got to school, Nash immediately went to Tyler and his friends. Today was our soon to be Alpha's sixteenth birthday, Tyler. Today was also the day that Tyler would find his mate. Everyone knew this, so girls were swarming him as he leaned against his lamborghini, smirking. I kept my head down down as I walked past them to the doors of Edenhills High School. I desperately hope that no one would notice me, but unluckily, someone spoke.

"Hey look, there's the school's nerd!" Kris, one of my brother's friend crowed as he pointed at me, Yes my brother let his friends made fun of me.

"Hey, nerd" Tyler called out.
"Aren't you going to greet your hot soon to be Alpha a Happy Birthday?" he said, emphasizing the word Alpha.

"Happy Birthday," I whispered before quickly running into the building.

I went to my first period, Anatomy my favorite with Mr.Allens and the entire annoying pack, they start smirking when I entered the room. I sat, trying to ignore the whispering and chuckles. Mr. Allens never once tried to stop them from making fun of me. All he did was throw pitying glances at my direction, it was stupid because pitying me did nothing to help. Later, the bell rang and I quickly got out of the room.

Lunch came and I sat in a less crowded corner of the cafeteria. I glanced over my brother's table; girls were still around them, desperately hoping that one of them would be the future Alpha's mate. Whoever she was, I bet she was gorgeous and sexy woman. Like most of all Alpha's mate should be. When stood up to throw away my trash, I accidentally bumped into Alexa, the mega bitch. She pushed me against a wall and smirked, even her smirk made me want to throw up.

"Watch, where you are going, nerdy," she spat. I jumped away from her and hoped that she would leave, but unluckily, No. My luck was far too rotten for that kind of mercy.

"Aww, is this little bitch afraid of me?" she sneered. I didn't say anything, I just want to go away from this bitch in front of me.

"I think she is," Lyca, one of Alexa's lackeys, snorted.

"I can't believe she's actually related to you Nash," Kris scoffed.

"Believe me, I know," my brother laugh. "She's so embarrassing. I'm so disappointed she's my sister, and I'm sure our parents would be disappointed right now,"

Tears sprang into my eyes but I quickly ran away before they see me crying. Was my brother right? Would mom and dad be disappointed in me? Was I really an embarrassment? For the remainder of lunch, I stayed in the supply closet, bawling my eyes out. Weak, Pathetic,  Worthless, Embarrassment. When I hear the bell, I wiped the tears from my eyes and went to my next class. I somehow managed to get through the rest of my classes without breaking down again.

After the final period, I started to walk to Nash's car when I smell pine and wood, I couldn't stop my self from following the scent and that led me to the entire pack gathered around Tyler's car then, my eyes landed on Tyler and saw him sniffing the air then his eyes landed on me.

"Mate," we both whispered.

My eyes widen, I didn't even know how that came out from my mouth.

"What?!" he yelled.

"We're mates" i said.

" No,it couldn't be" he whispers. " You can't be my mate," he shook his head. "You're ugly, i'm an Alpha, my mate supposed to be gorgeous," he added.

"Oh my god!" i heard many gasped.

"I Tyler Redstone, reject you Selene Rose Black, as my mate,"

As I heard those words, i felt like i'm being stabbed in the heart all over again, his words keep playing in my head. No one wants me, my brother is right. Even my mate doesn't want me. Worthless, Pathetic, Embarrassment, nwanted. That's what I am. I didn't realized that my face was pooled with tears until I heard gasp and whispering. And I ran away.

I ran away as fast as I could in the direction of my house. I could still hear the pack laughing behind me. I dropped to the ground and shifted. Lifting my nose in the air, I howled in pain, Having your mate reject you was the worst kind of pain you could ever feel. I ran through the woods back to my house and went up to my room. I had to leave. I couln't stay here anymore, I couldn't take this anymore, this is too much. Not with the mate who rejected me. I threw all of my possessions into a duffel bag and wrote a note for Nash. He didn't deserve an explaination, but I was still going to write the note.

Dear whoever cares, but i guess no one,

I know you dont care, but i'm leaving. I can tell when I have no one, and im not  needed. I'm tired of being treated like a little piece of shit. I know no one would ever bother to look for me, I'll be happy because i know everyone can just forget me. Don't worry, i'm leaving this pack, too. You'll never have to hear from the girl you called 'the school's nerd' ever again.

        I left the note on the stool near the kitchen where I knew someone would find it. With one last look at the place where I grew up, I ran into the woods without looking back. Alone and afraid, I just walk deeper into the woods.
