Chapter 26

"Is everything okay?" Taehyung asked when I found him peeking through the open door as he held it in place. I was staying at Mom's office for about an hour already but I made sure my on-call phone was ready to alert me if anyone needed a hand in something.

He was wearing his usual attire at work — plain long-sleeved polo shirt tucked in underneath his black pants. Like him, I was helping out in the hospital with everything the doctors asked me to do. The E.R. was really stressful, and I needed to get used to it. But sometimes the panic and rush made me nervous.

"Yeah. Need some help?"

He shook his head. "Do you want to eat at the cafeteria? Dad's having his coffee break there."

"Okay." I told him to wait for me while I shut down my laptop. I was just watching a movie before he came, and my eyes hurt a little.

When I was done, we both got out of the office and walked in the busy hallways. It looked as if I was in a fast-paced world with jigging feet around. Taehyung talked about how he got to insert a foley catheter through a patient's urethra and into his bladder. I listened to him discuss some other Medical-related stories and he looked so engrossed with it.

From afar, I could see our father swiping through his iPad while he sipped a cup of coffee. I heard my brother draw a deep sigh.

"He's probably playing Surgeon Simulator again. He's been playing that game whenever he has free time ever since Seokjin has downloaded it for him."

"He looks too preoccupied." I commented. I saw how Dad's eyebrows furrowed while he clicked his tongue, seeming annoyed at the game.

As soon we arrived at his table, he looked up from the device and instantly exited the app. Taehyung asked me what I wanted to eat and I pulled out the chairs across Dad for us to sit. Taehyung headed to get us some food so I was left with my father who had just half-emptied his coffee.

"Are you going with your brothers next week?" He suddenly asked me, leaning his back against his seat.

Confused, a crease formed on my forehead. "Where to?"

"They haven't told you? I think the boys are heading to Japan for a short vacation."

I parted my lips. "I didn't know."

It was time when Taehyung got back with a tray balanced in his hands. He then placed it onto the table, sliding a piece of cheesecake over to me.

"Is Sena coming abroad with you two?" Dad questioned my brother, watching Taehyung who promptly took a bite of his dessert.

"Of course."

"She doesn't know it yet."

"Sena does now."

"What's with the sudden plans?" I couldn't help but ask him. Last week he just refused to travel somewhere and now he really did agree on an out-of-country trip, even with Seokjin who was much more busier than ever since he's on his last year of residency. But maybe he wanted to chill for awhile amidst his hectic days.

"It's been so long since we all travelled together. It wasn't even that far."

"You won't be able to do that a lot when you start formal work, Taehyung. You will miss out on a lot of things. Do you have other plans after you get your license?" Dad was already talking about getting Taehyung's license although the results of KMLE wasn't still out because we all knew he'd nail it.

My brother stopped, then blinked hard. "I don't know. I'll take it easy, one at a time. I'm actually thinking of having my residency years at other hospital. We'll see."
