The After Effects

Back to the morning when Anakin is meeting Padmé at the front of the school and after Kylo broke up with Rey.

Poe

I stared at Finn as he read his book. He looked.... utterly beautiful to me. I mean that less as a friend and more as something else completely. I didn't want to mean it that way, but I did. The thing that really sucks about being Bi, is that half the time the people you like aren't even interested in guys. That statement wasn't limited to guys, seeing as there were women that I asked out that were lesbians or already taken.

My staring was soon interrupted by loud sobbing. The sobbing sounded familiar. The loud sobbing belonged to my only friend besides Finn, Rey. I guess whatever Kylo wanted didn't particularly agree with Rey. Both Finn an I get up to comfort her. We both hug her from the side, my arms wrapping around Finns shoulders.

"He... he..." She stuttered out between sobs.

"We know." I say in a soft voice. "Let it all out. Finn and I will kill him later."

She leans into me after I say that, still violently shaking along with her cries. I look up to the boy across from me as he does the same. He gives me a concerned look, a look in which I return to him. Our friend has abandonment issues, which this break-up isn't helping. She says that she barely remembers her parents, but she remembers them leaving her at the orphanage.

"Did... did he say why?" Finn asks her.

She shakes her head. "He said that his mom told him something... but he can't tell me why."

"That sounds dumb and made up." I tell her. "He probably said that in hopes that it would hurt you less."

___________later that day___________

It was the end of the day, and Rey is still broken up about her break-up with Kylo. As I approach the boys locker room on my way out, I hear sobbing coming out of it. I put my ear to the door and hear someone say something I couldn't quite understand. Then a very obvious and very loud "no". The "no" belonged to none other than the asshole who broke up with my friend, Kylo Ren.

I walk away. Quickly and not paying attention as to where I was going. I ran into someone, knocking us both over. I look up to see who I ran into. It was Finn.

"Sorry Finn, didn't see you there!" I exclaim happily with a goofy grin on my face. He looked down with a shy expression on his face.

"S'okay Poe." He said quietly.

I got up faster than he did and offered Finn my hand. He took it bashfully, letting me yank him off the ground. On the way out, the both of us were quiet. I stared at him, and he stared awkwardly at his feet.
