Healing Scars

(I AM BACK FROM THE DEAD AND HERE WITH ANGST)
*Cold brushes of wind blew past a simple little apartment on baker street, Sherlock shortly returning from the fall*

Even after the return of his dear sociopath the tension in the air of their tiny apartment unsettled John. Sherlock has always been cold but he seemed more so off now. He could understand why however, he dare not ask what happened in the years separating them. And so, silence. It wasn't until John arrived home from the shop to see Sherlock standing in the kitchen, shirt off, back to John. He gasped and almost dropped the groceries as he assessed the long, red scars, running along the expanse of Sherlock's back. They seemed somewhat fresh, only about 1 year or so old. The entire back and shoulders was painted in streaks of wounds, wounds John thought, caused by his daft ness. "Sherlock?" John stated quietly. Sherlock did not move from his position but tended up as he heard his friend. John carefully set down his groceries and walked across the floor to a foot behind Sherlock. "John" Sherlock whispered. With a shaking hand, John moved to gently caress one of the scars that lined his back. "Did- did Moriarty's team do this to you" John said, the name almost tasting bitter in his mouth. Sherlock nodded. John felt suddenly like tears were inevitable and so he let out a sob, dropping to his knees with his head in his hands. Sherlock quickly turned, lowering himself and hugging his hurt friend. "John, i'm sorry it's not your fault i was just trying to sav-" "ITS MY FAULT FOR NOT LOOKING AFTER YOU" John interrupted. "John I-" "Don't you dare say your sorry with those scars on your back! You did that to protect me! I should've done something!" John babbled holing onto sherlock's shoulders. "You didn't know it's ok, i'm here now" Sherlock calmly stated.  John let out a heart clenching sob and wrapped his arms around his friend. "I'm sorry" John muttered. "It's ok, I'm sorry too. Sometimes that's just how it needs to be" Sherlock said.

Baker street has its scars. So does Sherlock.
And now, John bears both for them.
