The moment Anne heard the front door of the apartment opening up had her sprinting towards the door ready to jump into the arms of the boy she loved, but she halted as soon as she came around the corner. Her eyes were wide as she looked to Steve who was nervously standing in the doorway with a bouquet of white and yellow flowers in hand.
Steve gave her a small smile and Anne could only blink in surprise as a grin began to take over her features. "What's this?" she questioned as the super soldier walked over and held the flowers out to her.
Anne gently took them and went to breath in their scent while Steve just smiled down at her. "I owe you a date," Steve reminded her, his words making the girl still before she looked up at him with wide eyes.
But a huge grin broke out on her face almost instantly and she was quick to lean forward and kiss Steve's cheek, the display of affection making him blush as he subconsciously leaned into her touch more.
Steve barely had time to comprehend that Anne had pulled away before she was practically running away and yelling out in excitement, "I'm going to go get ready!"
She hadn't seemed this happy since he reunited with her and Steve couldn't help but take notice. A small laugh escaped his lips as he watched Anne run back to their bedroom and all he could think about was how grateful he was to still have his girl by his side with that smile of hers dawning her face once again.
While Anne got ready in the bathroom, Steve went and changed into a nicer pair of clothes himself and just when he heard Anne beginning to mess around with the doorknob, the super soldier took one last look at his appearance in the mirror and quickly fixed his hair before turning back to the door as it flew open.
Steve swore his heart stopped right then and there, his eyes widening as he inhaled sharply. There Anne stood in a white floral dress with her hair falling in their usual messy curls around her shoulders. She was breathtaking and Steve's lungs could agree with that statement.
"What?" Anne asked in a panic once she saw Steve's wide eyes, mistaking his star struck demeanor for something else. "Is this too much?"
"Darling," Steve whispered, blinking as he took a double take at the girl in disbelief. The nickname rolled of his tongue with ease and Anne felt her cheeks began to heat up as Steve let his eyes flicker to her gaze and he gave her a grin. "You look gorgeous."
Anne's blush grew even worse and she bashfully looked down while Steve took a few quick strides across the room to wrap the girl up into a hug. He just couldn't help himself. He never thought he would get to have this moment, to see Anne looking as beautiful as ever before a date.
