Choi Remi was lying on stomach, atop her silky-soft bedsheets, while mindlessly scrolling through her Instagram feed, wasting time, with her adoring best friend right by her side, on the floor, doing the same thing.

Only, her friend was looking at something different.

"Holy shit, Rem, check this out!"

Her name was Lee Soobin, and she had always had been an illuminated, confident girl, with too much energy for her own good. She was very pretty, but often times didn't feel like it.

Much like Remi.

Shortly after outbursting, Soobin quickly vaulted herself off the soft grey rug that was on Remi's bedroom floor, and leapt into the air, belly-flopping onto the bed right beside her best friend.

"Ugh, what?" Remi groaned, after readjusting next to her.

"Look how hot he looks!" she replied while quickly shoving her phone into Remi's face, "He dyed his hair silver!"

Remi had to squint her eyes, because she didn't have her glasses on, and tried to make out the figure on the screen. Once she did, her expression dropped, and she slapped Soobin's hand away, while looking back to her own screen.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I don't care about your stupid Japanese boys," she said while clicking 'like' on a post of her favourite WEBTOON writer, "Stop showing them to me. I don't think they're attractive,"

Soobin pouted, and stuck her tongue out, "Maybe you should go put those glasses on, you're getting blinder by the second."

Remi giggled, shaking her head.

"AND THEY'RE KOREAN!"

The two girls continued to laugh and bicker for another 10 minutes, sharing snacks and smacks, while having the time of their teenage-lives. Living it up, and enjoying every second of their reliant company.

"Girls!" Remi's mum called out gently, knocking on her bedroom door, and entering not long after, "I come bearing gifts. And good news."

The girls giggle in response, quickly sitting up in bed, putting their phones down, and leaving enough space for Remi's mother to join them on the queen-sized mattress.

In her hand, Choi Yuna—Remi's mother—had a plate of avocado toast, and a huge smile, across her whitened teeth, and pretty red lips.

"What's the news?" Remi asked while taking a mouthful of the bread.

"Yeah, Yuna, i'm excited to hear this!" Soobin giggled while scoffing down her own bread.

It was a routine for Soobin to call Remi's mother by her first name, because Mrs. Choi had known Soobin since the two girls were only small children, and she had long given her that privilege.

"Well I'm not sure that you'll be too happy about it, Soobin, but I know that Remi dear will," she pursed her lips, clearly a little anxious about the news she was going to break, "Just keep in mind that there will be options."

"Options?" Remi asked with her mouth full.

Mrs. Choi nodded.

"Okay, what is it?"

"Brace yourselves," Mrs. Choi winced.

They sat in heart-wrenching silence for about three seconds before Mrs. Choi blurted out her confession.

"Remi, you're going to be studying abroad!"

The two teenagers felt their stomachs drop to their feet at the sudden explosion.

"W-What?" she asked breathlessly.

"You always spoke about how you wanted to go on that exchange program for your final year of high school!"

Remi slowly put her food down, "The one that we can't afford?"

Mrs. Choi smiled even wider, "Yes, your father and I decided that it would be a great investment for you, and your character development. You always said how much you wanted to travel! We want to give you that opportunity young!"

"But mom," she reached over, grabbing her hands softly, "We can't afford that kind of trip."

Mrs. Choi shakes her head with a soft smile, "Don't you dare go on worrying about that. You need to worry about packing, because the payment has already been made. You leave in a week."

Remi was utterly speechless.

"Think of it as a gift, your father and I are so proud of you, and think you deserve this," she wiped a stray tear away from her eye, "It's an 11 month program, so just promise me that you'll study hard, and stop getting into fights."

Tears began to violently come streaming out of Remi's eyes, and she nod her head.

They pulled each other into a beautiful hug, and Remi helplessly sobbed into her mother's consoling chest.

"I love you, mom," she cried.

"Uh, ahem?"

Startled, Remi and her mother look up, and remember that they had completely forgotten about Soobin, who was also crying.

"You're leaving?" Soobin asks, looking sad.

Remi nods slowly, "It looks that way."

"How far is the program?" she said, her voice shaky and saddened, "Can I come visit?"

"Uh, it's in South Korea, a nice place called Seo-"

"SEOUL!?" she gasped, her hands slapping her own cheeks, "Like, where my husbands are all currently?!"

Remi pursed her lips, "You're married? To multiple men?"

Then, Soobin proceeds to do what's expected of any best friend, and tackle the girl onto the floor, rolling around and crying into each other, desperately abandoning the idea of ever having to be forced apart.

But she was of course happy that her best friend was finally given the opportunity to follow her big dreams.

"You better join Blackpink by the end of the year!" she ordered, "No exceptions. Use that beautiful voice of yours to become an idol!"

"What's Blackpink?"

They continued to sob, happy-sad tears filling up the pillows in a matter of minutes, before Remi sat up and sniffled, while wiping her wet face on her sleeve.

"W-Wanna help me pack?"

Soobin let out a sad laugh, and nod her head, "Sure, you big fat bitch."

Welcome, welcome.

First, don't ask me why there is such a large variety of names from all different ethnicities. I just chose names that I liked and i'm sorry if anyone is offended by me using Korean/Japanese names for white characters.

Remi is also an MC, I decided not to make this a X reader, but the original version was.

Sorry if you didn't get to read it before I took it down.

There will also be "Korean" stereotypes in this, which don't make any racial sense whatsoever, but I wanted to make it this way. Such as Korean culture, food, and fashion. Also, I watch too much Kdrama.

Second, this story is a weird concept, and will probably be filled with so much soul-destroying fluff, that by the end, you'll want to rip out your own throat and step on it with soccer studs.

Thank you and good night.
