Chapter 18 The Date

I woke up next to Jace, curled up in his arms and under the sheets. "Good morning beautiful." He said. I missed hearing those words come from his mouth, and this, just laying in bed together so still and close. I could never live with my self if I ever lost this. I started to tear up at the thought of it.
"What's wrong?" he said wiping away the single tear running down the side of my cheek. "I just really missed you. Promise me you will never leave me."
"I promise." he said whispering it in my ear. I smiled at the sound of his voice as the words slipped off of his lips. I nestled my head right beside his neck and we stayed there so quiet and motionless, hearing each others heart beats.
After we finally got up after a half hour, I went down stairs to find Brian to see if he had any luck last night with the tracking. I went into the library because that is the last place I left him. I walked over to the table where we were last night, to find him still there with his head in his arms on the desk asleep. I walked over and rubbed his back softly to wake him up.

"Hey have you been here all night?"

"Ya, I guess I was." he said lifting his head to look at me, with his gorgeous blue eyes. "I was up all night trying to find something, anything, but I kept getting nothing. I'm sorry Clary, I've let you down." he said with a sad expression on his face.

"Oh Brian, don't you think for a minute that you have not helped. You have done so much for me, I never expected you to find anything for the tracking because he is dead."

"I know, but usually I can pickup were the body is but I can't even do that."

"Well then someone must have put some kind of protection spell. Is that possible?"

"Yes, it is! I don't know why I never thought of it before. Clary, your a genius." he said throwing his hands up so happy.

"That's great!" I said hugging him. "What do we have to do?"

"All I need is something that belonged to him."

"I don't have anything."

"Well you are blood related right? I can use your blood."

"Okay, that's fine."

"But we can do this later, I'm still very tried and hungry come to think of it."

"Okay that's sounds good to me, Jace was going to take me out on a date today, so I should probably get ready."

"Oh so you two have sorted everything out I presume?"

"Yes, thanks for the advice, and being there for me when I needed it."

"Your very welcome love, I will see you later."

"Okay." I said before we both went our separate ways.

It was about evening now and I got ready for tonight, putting on a simple dark blue dress. The kind that was fitted on the top and then flared out at the bottom like a skirt. It came up just above my knees so I put on nightshade tights, because it was cold out. I put a simple black blazed jacket on top, and black high heel boots with lots laces. I pulled my curls half back, leaving two little curls on both sides of my face. I took one last look in the mirror to touch up my make up and made my way down stairs to meet Jace at the front door.
He was standing there, very handsome, wearing a simple caller button up gray shirt, with the last two buttons undone, and a pair of nice jeans. In his hand he was holding a single red rose. I walked up to him smiling, and he said " for you my love."
"That's so sweet, thank you." and I gave him a small kiss on the cheek. He held out his arm for me to take, and we both walked out onto the beautifully light street. I was expecting him to call for a cab but he just kept walking up the street and around the Institute. We went though an ally and I began to think that this was not a very good start to the date, but I said nothing and just went with it. We came to a door leading up to the roof of a building, so naturally I went up, still following Jace. When we got to the top you could tell we were in New York, and that the sun had just set.
"Oh Jace, it's.. beautiful" I finally said after losing my word, from the breath taking view. "I'm glad you like it, but that's not what we are here for," he said and then turned me around to reveal the most stunning creation I had ever encountered, "this is." he finished.
It was a dinner for two with a little candle in the middle of the table. Everything behind it was all lights, almost like a gazebo of shining stars over us. The whole roof was light with every light I could imagine, along with the beautiful city lights.
"Jace," I began but I started to choke up, and my eyes began to water. "Its... its perfect." I finally said looking at him with a big smile. "You deserve it, all of it. Now come on, before the food gets cold." he said pulling me over to our table. He pulled out my chair like a gentleman to seat me, and then sat down. "let me present.." as he grabbed the silver lid over the platter, and revealed it like in a fancy restaurant, "our dinner." I looked to see that he had reveled pizza. I looked at him giggling.
"Aww my favorite, how did you know."

"Everyone loves pizza." He said laughing.

We ate our dinner and then we talked for the rest of the time. Not even about anything important, but just the stupid little things that just make the conversation so memorable.

"Dance with me." He said out of no wear, standing up and holding out his hand to me.

I stood up and took his hand and we began to dance, just like the night in the living room. It felt just as magical as the first time, but this time I felt more alive then before. We danced until I couldn't feel my feet anymore, then he said, "come with me, I want to show you something." and he took my hand and pulled me towards the stairs. He called over a cab, and we got in and drove off. We were driving for about a half hour, right to the out side of town.
"Could you drop us off here, please?" Jace asked the cab driver, and he pulled over, dropping us off at the side of the road in front if a forest.

"Jace? Why are we here?"

"You'll see."

He took me into the forest where there was a little path all lit up with lights, leading the way to where ever it is that Jace was bring me. It was so beautiful, I thought as I walked along the path following him still holding my hand.
We got to a bend and he told me to close my eyes so I did and he guided me the rest of the way.

"Okay, open your eyes." he whispered in my ear.

When I opened them we were in a cave, with the most breath taking cove in the middle, with candles everywhere.

"Jace, it's beautiful. It seems that you are using the theme of light for our date." I said laughing with a big smile on my face.

"Well you told me how you always loved the city lights, so I thought I would do something with that."

"Wow I can't believe you remembered that." I said kind of blushing.

"Now let's go swimming." he said with a smirk on his face, and taking off his cloths all except his boxers. So I followers his lead, and did the same. With out me knowing he grabbed me and through me into the water, and he jumped in after. "Jace!" I yelled splashing water at him and laughing at the same time. Then he pulled me in and kissed me to end the night off perfectly.
