prompt - forgiveness
a/n - okay so i wanted to find a scenario where forgiving someone will in turn hurt you more. soooo this is about earth blaming God for letting humans get this far out of control. Some day you'll pray in my remembrance
And I'm afraid
Forgiving you
Would be a death sentenceMy body
Something so sacred and pure
A breeze, celestial waves of shimmering sea
Plateaus stacked with greeneryI nurtured your trees so they could breathe
but now they plant metal seeds
Pump me full of smoke
Manipulate atoms to explodeI've had a fever for 40 years
and only a few of them fear
That soon they will burn with meThey start their day by coughing
To the rhythm of carbon knocking at their lungs
Yet they won't quit kicking me with their shovels and machinery
Digging into my sides for a change in sceneryMy body
Something so sacred and pure
Has turned into a wasteland
Plastic piercing my skin and
Picking it out is just another punishmentI still hear shackles clanking
Bodies swaying, burning
In my DNA
There's always a trace
Of ways they've had freedom taken
For being the way you made themIt never matters how often they bend their knees
Your commandments have been overruled by constitutions and kingsStep down from your throne
And come a little closer
You'll see the white melting from my eyes
Tears twice the size of raindrops
My hands shake
My head twirls
The sky is cracking under pressureYes, look away in horror
In shame and guilt
Dwell on the times you bathed in my sea
When charred leaves didn't pepper my breeze
When you found peace sinking in my sand
Now open your eyes and look at this land
It has been washed clean of your commandSome day you'll pray in my remembrance
And I'm afraid
Forgiving you
Would be a death sentence
