Chapter 15

“I love you.”

“Don’t say that.  We’re too young to know what that means.”

“You really believe that?”

“I don’t know.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Bobby opened his eyes slowly expecting to see Melissa’s pretty face but instead he found himself buckled in the seat on the plane with Jad tapping on his shoulder rather excitedly.

“Welcome to Boracay, Bobby.  We’re here dude.”

Bobby straightened up, instinctively fixing his hair, retrieving his lip balm from his pocket and applying a generous amount of the sticky stuff on his dry lips.

He opened his window and looked outside.

According to his itinerary, their first stop was the smaller airport in the town of Kalibo, a two hour ride from the sea port that would take visitors to the beach.

Other airlines take a different route where planes land on the island of Caticlan instead, roughly a fifteen minute ride to the same sea port that has plenty of boats and ferries on standby, ready to take tourists and locals to their destinations.

The boat ride to the beaches of Boracay usually takes 20 minutes.

Bobby stood up to collect his gym bag from the overhead bin.  Being one of the taller men in their group, he helped some of the crew reach for their belongings that settled in the deeper part of the plane’s luggage compartments.

From the corner of his eye, Bobby stole a glimpse of Jelly Anne Ferris.

She was sitting patiently in her seat with her gigantic sunglasses covering her pretty face, looking cool and perfect as usual, waiting for her assistants to get her belongings and lead the way for her towards the exit.

If Jelly Anne did not have a striking resemblance to Melissa, Bobby would not have cared much for the snobbish actress.  Despite her stinky attitude though, there was something about her that drew Bobby  to her - like a magnetic force that would not go away.

Bobby looked at the traffic of people heading towards the exit and focused on getting Jad’s weekend paraphernalia out of the aisle and onto the research analyst’s back so they could start moving forward.

A few minutes later, Bobby noticed Jelly Anne standing just two feet away from him and he felt uneasy. Never in his life did he ever dream that he would be in the same place with the actress in such close proximity.

As Jelly Anne inched her way closer to him, Bobby mentally choked.  He gasped for air silently, holding onto Jad’s backpack for support.

Bobby dreaded embarrassing himself in front of a dozen camera men behind him.  He thought he would pass out like a true wimp as the essence of Jelly Anne’s citrusy cologne began finding its way through his nostrils.

Bobby’s entire body stiffened.

“Bobby, you’re riding with us.  We’re on Van number 4.  It’s a white Toyota Hi-Ace.  See you at the parking area.” Chie shouted at Bobby as she headed out of the plane behind Val and Miles.

Jad turned around and looked at Bobby.

Pare, are you okay? You look so pale.  C’mon let’s get some water before heading to the van.” Jad said, genuinely concerned.

“Thanks Jad.  Okay lang ako.  Just excited.” Bobby said.

Suddenly, Bobby felt someone touch his arm lightly.  When he glanced behind him, he saw Jelly Anne smiling sweetly at him as she gave Bobby’s arm another gentle squeeze.

“You look like you’re going to pass out.  Here, take my bottled water.  Bago ‘yan.  It’s new.  Haven’t opened it yet.  Sa’yo na lang.”

After talking to Bobby, Jelly Anne turned around to address Jad.

“Hey there, make sure you take care of your friend here.  We don’t want any glitches this weekend and we definitely don’t want to waste our time on unnecessary things like health issues. This is still work, after all.  We have a shoot to finish.  See you guys around.”

Jad smiled warmly at the actress yet one of his eye brows was raised.  He looked at Bobby, waiting for the actress to leave before reacting to Jelly Anne’s half sweet, half sarcastic comments.

Bobby smiled at Jelly Anne and thanked her for the water.

When the actress turned her back on the two men, Jad winked at Bobby.  And finally, when everyone else got out of the plane, Jad addressed his flustered lone companion.

“That’s the Jelly Anne Ferris formula for success.  Look like an angel, act like a witch.  Let’s make sure we stay away from her.  I don’t know who in his right mind would like that rude woman.  Remember Bobby, we’re here to enjoy.  Don’t worry about her.  What happens to us regular folks in Boracay is none of her damn showbiz-ness.”

Bobby grinned at Jad and looked away as he felt his ears turning red.  What would he do if Jad found out the snobbish, rude angelic witch was the girl of his dreams?
