I don’t know how long I cried. I do know that Brick held me the whole time though. I finally calmed down enough to stop crying and I pulled away. “Liz, what happened, why were you crying?” I looked at Brick; I really don’t want to talk about this. “It has something to do with the scars on your arms, doesn’t it?” I nodded. He grabbed my arms and examined them. “These look like knife cuts and… claw marks? Liz, what happened?” I took a deep breath and told him everything. I told him how my boyfriend abused me. “Adam was a werewolf and used his claws on me whenever I did something he didn’t like. I’m not sure when but I started cutting myself after he would yell at me.” I stopped. I felt Brick squeeze my hand and continued. (When did he grab my hand?) “Eventually Macey found out. Even though I begged her not to she called the police. Adam was with me when he got arrested. He thought I called them and attacked me. The cops ended up having to shoot him. I was rushed to the hospital; I lost so much blood I nearly died.” I whispered the last part. Brick put his arm around me and I leaned against him, grateful for his presence. “He’s coming back Monday.” I choked out, I was crying again. “Don’t worry Liz; I won’t let him touch you.” Brick promised. “And if he does, I’ll rip him to shreds.”
