When I arrived home my only warning was a cry of my name before I was tackled to the ground. As I tried (key word: tried) to get Macey off me she continuously shouted, “You idiot! I was so worried! Don’t you ever run off like that again!” Eventually the princes took pity on me and pried her off me. After she calmed down, Butch then grabbed me and I was yanked into the house. Our poor neighbors must be so confused. I pulled my hand away from Butch and leaned against the wall trying not to look to guilty. “Liz,” Brick began. “next time you decide to do something stupid like that, don’t. Making brash decisions in this kind of situation is only going to make things worse. If you are even half as smart as you claim to be then you would have known better than to piss Adam off.” I flinched at his cold voice and looked down, tears welling up in my eyes. “I know.” I whispered. It took all of my will power not to cry. I hated having Brick mad at me and all that fact did was make me angry. I blinked back the tears and looked up, glaring. It gave me sick satisfaction to see them all flinch back as I started to speak. “I know, you don’t have to lecture me like I’m some little kid. I appreciate the help, but if all you’re going to do is yell at me when stand up for myself then I don’t want it. I never asked for your help, I never asked for you to waltz into my life and tell me what to do, and I never asked for you to follow me around! You say making brash decisions will just make things worse, but all you’re doing is making Adam jealous! And a jealous Adam is ten times worse then a pissed off one! So if you wanna help you can start by backing off and staying out of my life!” I screamed out the last part and stood there catching my breath as my words registered in Bricks mind. Brick opened his mouth, my name coming out in a pleading voice. I didn’t let him say anything else as turned and walked to the stairs. I looked back and saw deep sadness in his eyes. His sadness hurt, so to get him to leave and stay away, I said three more words, all laced with venom. “I hate you.” And with that, I walked away, pretending I didn’t see his heart breaking in his eyes.
