all though doing the same thing everyday was boring, that was how (y/n) liked it. there was never any random surprises or distractions from their grades or school work. it was going extremely smoothly, constant a grades. that was, right up until the unfortunate day (y/n)'s mother passed away. she had finally given into her sickness. frankly it wasn't a surprise to anyone. her battle had been on and off, she tried her hardest but ended up giving in.
right after the news came they all packet up and moved to texas to be closer to their aunty. they managed to score a decent sized apartment close to the local high school. james, (y/n)'s younger brother was ecstatic for the move. in fact, even (y/n) was. new beginning's, new people, new reputation.

the sun was setting, casting an eerie glow over the looming apartment building. the move had been easy but boring. the car trip took ages and there was no point complaining about it. the entire time (y/n) sat listening to music and sketching in their sketchbook. james on the other hand asked stupid questions every two seconds. stuff like "how far away are we?" when they hadn't even left the driveway. (y/n) has never been happier to be outside in the fresh air. they carelessly stretched out their legs and inhaled deeply. james took the keys from their father and rushed inside excited to see the new house.

(y/n) groggily turned off the blaring alarm. they sat up and yawned, mumbling to themself under their breath. (y/n) carefully weaved their way through the boxes they were yet to unpack to get to the small bathroom.
(y/n) turned on the shower and and stripped off their pajamas before stepping in. they let the warm water comfort them for a while before turning the hot tap off making the water icy cold. the cold water jolted (y/n) into full consciousness and they began to wash themself. when they were done they turned off that water and dried themself before quickly dressing and doing makeup.
(y/n) hardly ever had breakfast but they headed to the kitchen to see what everyone else was up to. despite how scared they were, (y/n) would never show it. it was easier that way. to put on a smile and act like nothing bothered or hurt you. after getting lost in thought for a while they felt a hard tap on the shoulder.
"oh now you decide to wake up, come on dad's waiting for us in the car!" it was james, being as impatient as ever. (y/n) quickly grabbed their stuff and followed James out to the car.
today was going to be a good day.
no matter what.
