One More Than 52

Like Brothers

Tobbi nearly fell backwards as soon as he walked out the gym door because he had bumped into someone who stood unmoving, directly in front of the door.

"Ah, I'm sorry I didn't see you there!" Tobbi quickly apologized before looking at the man's face.

"Long time no see, quite the way to welcome a bro to ya hotel!" The man joked and laughed a bit. Tobbi looked at the man's face and was surprised to see a fennec fox face looking back at him.

"Jay!" Tobbi hugged him, "What are you doing here?"

"Ya see, I was hopin' I could crash at ya place, I didn't really plan my trip very well." Jay rubbed his neck.

"I've already got a few people staying, but two of them were only for a couple days, so I don't see why you can't."

"Who do ya have over?" Jay tilted his head slightly.

"Romina, Kayo, Alistair, and Peter so far. Ali and Peter decided to head back to the casino today."

"I see. I take it he's Kayo right?" Jay pointed to the fox person behind Tobbi quizzically.

"Yup! Anyways, should we get back to the room?"

"Sure seems better than standin' in a doorway." Jay joked again.

Kayo listened to their conversation while pretending to still play on the phone. He had no idea who Jay was but felt too nervous to ask about him. He followed behind Tobbi as they all made their way to the elevator. Tobbi and Jay made small talk the entire time. At some point he must have zoned put again, as he flinched when he felt someone nudge his shoulder.

"Hey, we're here now." Tobbi said softly.  It slightly amazed Kayo that he was able to speak like that, but kept that feeling to himself.

"Sorry, must have zoned out again..." Kayo apologized nervously.

"It's okay." Tobbi reassured, patting his friend on the back lightly before opening the door in front of them.

Kayo glanced at Jay. He was ever so slightly shorter than Tobbi, but Kayo could tell that Jay was older.

"Well, here we are! Make yourself at home, Jay!" Tobbi walked in and held his arms out wide, like a welcoming and casual way of showing off.

Kayo and Jay both made their way inside, and Kayo immediately headed towards the room that him and Rose shared.

Rose was sitting on her bed against the wall, and looked up from the book she was reading as Kayo plopped onto his own bed on the other side of the room.

"You doing okay, bub?" She questioned.

"I don't know..."
