"That took quite a while... are we ready to go now?" I could tell Luke was getting a bit impatient by the way he said that, I'd been around him long enough by then to know he was the sort that likes to get things done instead of just talking about them.

"Yep," I told him. "We're still planning on swimming, right?"

"Of course, you love swimming. It'll be the last thing we do, by the time we're finished with everything else it should be close to 2:00. That's late enough that it's nice and hot, which makes the water feel even better, but early enough that most people won't show up for at least another hour after we do. Plus, then we don't have to do everything else with our fur wet."

"I won't even have to change." That was Lusius. I hadn't noticed the red patterning that distinguished his swim trunks from the pair of regular black shorts that he had, clearly Luke hadn't either and the fact that Lu had put on a black swim shirt with them didn't help. (He usually wears a green one, or on the rare occasions he doesn't wear one at all he'll put on a brightly-colored regular shirt that doesn't match the black [which I assume he does so the shirt is harder to lose while he isn't wearing it]. The black one was new.)

"I hadn't noticed, not used to the black shirt. I suppose that's a good thing, you won't look off... that'd speed things up a bit except that me and Tails would still have to change." Luke turned to face me. "Should we do that now?" he asked.

"Sure," I told him. I ran back to my and Lusius's room and put on my own blue trunks and shirt (I'd gotten a blue swim shirt to match my trunks at the same time Lusius had gotten the black one to match his, it helps my fur stay a little drier which is nice when I don't plan on being outside after getting wet). I sat back down next to Lusius right as Luke did. Luke's outfit was a dark bluish gray which you would expect to clash with his light fur, but it works quite well once you look at it.

"Now we're ready to go," I told him.

Luke went outside to pull a car around (Lusius had agreed with me to let him choose instead of either of us deciding), me and Lusius heading out the front door to meet him. He greeted us with a tap of the throttle, then opened both doors (the car was narrow enough that he could just reach across).

"What's this one called?" I asked. "I don't recognize it."

"This one's the MAA Python," he told me.

"MAA?"

"Mantori-Abmis Automobiles. Not to brag but I designed it myself. It's a somewhat lightweight vehicle with a sporty-yet-luxurious interior and it's tons of fun. Roughly 900 horsepower in this one." Another rev of the engine punctuated his point. "This is the base model and the only one with four seats, it's got a bit more headroom than a Mustang and I thought it'd be more comfortable. Chuck Mantori, the other name in MAA, said there's a lot of room in the back and he's almost as tall as I am."

"Well it sounds awesome, both figuratively and literally," I said. "But what's that blue spot just in front of the door frame?" (The entire car was a cactus-green color, for reference.)

"What blue spot?" He sounded surprised as he said that, clearly it wasn't normal. Then he turned around to look at it. "Is that..."

"Is that what?" I asked him.

"Not what, who," he replied. "You know the Blue Blur?"

"Nope."

"Fastest Thing Alive?"

"Nope."

"Sultan of Sp- no that's Flash. Ah whatever, it's Sonic!"

"What... how..." I couldn't continue to form words.

I just started running towards Sonic.
