As Kai and Indi walked out of the fairgrounds they ran into someone Indi recognized.
"Antonio!" Indi said, greeting her friend with a hug.
"Hey, Indi." Antonio grinned and motioned to her face. "What is that supposed to be?"
Indi put her hands on both sides of her face to showcase the artwork. "It's an angel, obviously."
Antonio laughed and glanced at Kai. He did a double-take and his eyebrows went up in surprise. "And, uh, what are you supposed to be?"
Kai grimaced and said, "A fairy tiger."
Indi smirked and nodded her head. "That's right." She ran her hand down his face. "He looks so pretty."
Antonio laughed and they told him goodbye, wishing him a good time.
"So you two never dated?" Kai asked, curiously, as they climbed into his truck.
"Oh, we dated." Indi said and then quickly corrected herself. "Once, I mean. We went on exactly one date."
Kai raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to go on.
Indi sighed and said, "We've known each other forever, so a few years ago we decided to see if there was something more there. But then we realized that we have only one thing in common and that's dance. I guess we never noticed that in dance class we only ever talked about dance." Indi laughed a little. "Anyway, so that's it."
Kai nodded, seeming pleased with her explanation.
As they pulled in front of Indi's house, she nodded across the street. "Whose car is that?"
There was a white car sitting in Kai's driveway. He looked over at the car and said, "Aiden's."
"What? He has a car? Why doesn't he ever drive it?"
Kai shrugged and said, "He doesn't really like to drive."
Indi shook her head, but dropped the subject as she got out of the vehicle. Kai met her on her side and grabbed her hand, walking her to the door.
"I had a lot of fun with you." She told Kai with a smile.
"Me too." He said, grinning back.
When they reached the front door, Indi told Kai goodnight, feeling suddenly shy again. She turned to go inside, but Kai grabbed her hand and tugged her back around. Indi gasped a little in surprise at the sudden movement. He pulled her close to him and placed one hand on her waist, the other cupping her cheek. Indi couldn't keep her lips from curling up as Kai leaned down towards her. Her eyes closed as his lips pressed softly against hers, for the second time that night. He took his time, deepening the kiss and Indi wound her arms around his neck. When Kai pulled away, he gently placed his forehead against hers and sighed happily. Indi bit her lip trying to hold back a grin. Or at the very least tone it down a bit.
"Okay," Kai said, reluctantly, pulling away slowly. "I guess I'll let you go now."
Indi laughed, "Thanks for the delay." She gave him a cheeky grin and turned to go back inside, tossing one last glance at Kai over her shoulder.
As Indi was getting ready for bed, her phone buzzed with a text. She saw it was a picture from Kai, and her eyebrows pulled together in confusion. She opened it and let out a surprised laugh, covering her mouth in shock.
It was a picture of Aiden, standing in the middle of his bedroom. He had one hand over his face and the other down by his side holding a piece of toilet paper. In fact, his entire room was completely covered with toilet paper. There was not an inch of his room that wasn't white.
Indi quickly texted Kai back.
Indi: OMG. How did she get in his room???
Kai: The information she gave me about you came at a price...
Indi couldn't help but laugh. Poor Aiden.
Indi: Haha you sold out your own brother?
Kai. Yep. He's furious. Worth it. Goodnight, gorgeous.
Indi's cheeks warmed and she bit her lip, fighting a grin.
Indi: Goodnight :)
Indi was not emotionally ready for school on Monday morning, yet there she found herself anyways. She sighed and took a big gulp of her coffee as she walked down the hall.
"Indi, Indi, I need a favor!"
She startled a little as Aiden came running up to her. "Okay...? What can I do for you?"
"I need you to get me in Karmen's locker." Aiden looked more awake than anyone should at such a horrible hour of the morning.
Indi laughed. "I told you I wasn't helping, remember? Besides, don't you think you should let this go? You're in over your head."
Aiden snorted. "Am not." Then he added, "But this is a good prank. Just trust me."
Indi debated with herself for a minute and then told Aiden the combination to Karmen's locker. He grinned, "Thank you!" He spun around, but before he could take off, he looked back at her, "Oh yeah, and, uh, can I borrow your eyeliner?"
Indi squinted her eyes at him and made a face. She reached into her purse and pulled out her eyeliner, handing it over. "Okay..."
Aiden winked and ran off. Indi hoped this didn't come back to bite her. He better do something nice like he promised or she would help Karmen get her revenge.
