It has been a month since Arthur has lived in the castle and about two weeks since his coronation. The King and the Queen are currently in a political marriage, and they both agreed that they could see someone else outside of the marriage since they were doing this mostly for the kingdom. Alfred and Arthur get along marvelously. Today would be like any other day in the Spade Kingdom, minus a thing or two.
"Hey Alfred, could I talk to you for a second?" Arthur asks from down the corridor.
"Yeah, sure." Alfred says and finishes up doing what he was doing. "What's up Artie~?" Alfred asks uses a nickname that Arthur has told him on many accounts not to call him.
Arthur lets out a sigh but for once ignores the nickname. He takes a deep breath. "I was wondering if we could go on a date...?" He asks hesitantly. Arthur was scared that Alfred might already be in a relationship since they had the agreement, but the Queen of Spades has formed an undeniable love for the King of Spades.
Alfred grins. "Of course we can! I was honestly going to ask you later this week!" He agrees happily.
"Wait, really?" Arthur asks to confirm.
Alfred nods his head. "Yes really."
Cue Arthur's sigh of relief. "Oh thank god. I was worried you were in some sort of relationship already... but I'm happy."
Alfred laughs. "I'm happy too. But you know, you could've asked if I was in a relationship or not. Right?"
Arthur blushes and looks away. "Oh s-shut it..."
Alfred laughs more and hugs Arthur. "Oh you love me~~~." He teases Arthur.
"S-shut up!" Arthur retorts going a darker red.
Alfred gasps. "You didn't deny it! It must be true!""T-that's the whole reason I a-asked you on a date!" Arthur retorts red faced, a red that would put the Heart Kingdom's royal clothes to shame. Alfred laughs loudly and ruffles Arthur's hair.
"What do you have in mind for us, my queen~?" Alfred asks Arthur with a smile on his face.
"W-well I was thinking maybe a lunch out in the garden...? If you want to... I guess..." Arthur says still blushing.
"Of course. That sounds wonderful." Alfred says with a soft smile on his face. Arthur's face lights up.
"I have it set up, well the servants insisted that they set it up even though they didn't know if was actually going to happen." Arthur says with a nervous chuckle.
"Well then, how about you lead the way, my queen~" Alfred says. Arthur nods and takes Alfred's hand and leads him out to the garden.
"This is honestly one of my favourite places here..." Arthur says with a sheepish grin on his face, the blush still evidently on his face.
"I'm sure that might change you know~ to our bedroom~" Alfred teases Arthur with a wink and a smirk. Arthrur's face goes back to being royal heart red.
"S-Shut up you wanker!" Arthur says facing away from Alfred.
"Awwww~ You don't have to be like that Arthur." Alfred says laughing a little. Arthur lets out a small huff and sits down in the area of the picnic. Alfred grins and sits next to Arthur. "This is wonderful my queen."
"Thank you, but it really was the servants' doings...." Arthur says giving the servants their credit where due. Arthur starts to pull food out of the woven basket. The food consisted of small sandwiches, apple slices, and pie. He pulls out the plates, napkins, and silverware, handing a plate to Alfred and keeping one for himself. Alfred was wearing a small smile on his face as Arthur was doing this, they were silent, but it was a comfortable silence. Arthur gives Alfred a sandwich, his share of the apple slices, and a slice of pie, before serving his own plate.
"Thank you Arthur, really. This is wonderful." Alfred beams. "Even if you did only did plan it out. Thank you."
Arthur smiles lightly. "You're welcome, Alfred. I'm glad you think highly of it." Arthur and Alfred then eat their food, enjoying light conversation in between bites. Arthur ate what he could, and his leftovers went to Alfred because of his bottomless pit of a stomach. Arthur stacks their dishes and used napkins and silverware back in the woven basket once they finished. Alfred takes Arthur's hand and they watch the sunset.
"Hey Arthur?"
"Yes Alfred?"
"I love you."
"I-I love you t-too." Arthur stutters. After finishing that sentence, Alfred pulls Arthur in for a kiss. Arthur tenses up at first, but then relaxes and kisses back. They pull away and they both smile gently.
"That was wonderful." Alfred smiles and laughs lightly, making Arthur smile softly and blush lightly.
"Y-yeah."
