Scott raced down the stairs as he followed Jacks. Frantically running, as they descended further and further into the base. Once they finally reached the floor they were after. They stacked up against the door, double-checking their weapons before they decided to face Sam Fox. Scott glanced over at Jacks; his attention was still focused on his gun as he checked it over. "Nervous?", Scott guessed as Jacks lifted his eyes from the gun.
It was strange to see the bright red mark curving around his right eye on his face, as he turned to look at him. Scott silently promised that when they stop all of this, he was going to ask Jacks how he had obtained that battle scar, not long after they were captured.
"No", Jacks said, "better to be safe, than sorry".
Scott nodded in agreement. He carefully grabbed the door handle and pushed it open. Stepping inside the room, Scott was immediately hit with the sheer scale of everything, as slowly his eyes moved from the floor up to the ceiling. Seeing the true height of the devastating rockets that Sam planned to use in his insane plan. They towered above them, like sinister skyscrapers. A cold shiver ran down his spine at the thought of the destruction these things would cause and the devastation they will spread as they spread the virus to millions of innocent people, who didn't deserve to die in the way Sam had envisioned.
A nudge on his arm brought Scott back to the present. Lowering his head, he turned and found Jacks had moved on ahead of him. Shaking his head Scott quickened his pace so he could catch up with him while keeping his eyes peeled for anything that could jump out at them. Moving across the vast room, they soon found the console centre on the opposite side of the room. It was on a slightly raised platform with steps up to the large console. Along with seeing the console came the timer. The large menacing numbers now showing '41:30.25'.
"Fuck it we need to move", Jacks shouted as he began to sprint towards the console. Scott wasted no time in charging after him. The large red timer above them, rapidly ticking down above them, urging him to run faster than ever. Overtaking Jacks as he ran. His attention solely focused on reaching Sam before it was too late. Suddenly Tris appeared in front of the steps, halting his progress. Skidding to a stop, Scott raised his gun and aimed it above her head at Sam.
"SAM FOX!", Scott shouted when they were close enough. "Shut it down now! It's over! We are clearing your base out as we speak, you've lost".
Sam pulled away from the controls in front of him, standing up straight. He didn't seem affected, by the gunshot wound that Scott had dealt him earlier. He made no effort to turn around. He just stared dead ahead. "You may think you've gained some advantage. Judging by your choice of words you seem to assume you've already won", Sam stated. "The fact you both are still alive means Bolder is no longer here. Tris... clean up the scraps".
"Gladly", she hissed.
The familiar sound of creaks and cracks as Tris began to change. Scott quickly aimed and opened fire on her. With extreme speed, she avoided it and was too quick for Scott to get a lock on her. She dropped to all fours, before she leapt at him, swiping a clawed hand at his chest as if she was mimicking a wild animal. Scott barely managed to dive out of the way. Her hands caught the front of his uniform, slicing through the fabric. Backing away from her, Scott watched as Tris stood up, displaying her terrifying height. She let out a cackle of laughter, that could shatter glass.
"Did that scare you?", she tormented him. As Scott clambered away from her. Jacks quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him up from the floor. "I know it did...", Tris continued, "... the frantic beating of your heart doesn't lie".
She dropped to her fours again, "I wonder what it would feel like to slice it open while it's still beating!". With that, she charged at them. "RUN!", Jacks shouted as he grabbed Scott's arm and pulled him away. They got out of her way and began to run down the room. Looking over his shoulder Scott watched her land right where they had just been standing. She wasted no time clawing at the floor and racing after them. Turning back around, Scott blindly followed Jacks. Glancing behind him, Scott saw Tris was right behind them.
