Chris took Scott over to the area where the supply crates had been left stacked up, waiting to be used. He made Scott sit down on one of the crates. "What were you thinking?!", Chris demanded as soon as Scott sat down.
"It was as simple as that... I wasn't", Scott replied.
"I got that when you hit a superior in front of everyone in the camp!", Chris snapped.
"He refused to make it easier for the families who are, right now, being torn apart", Scott retorted as he stood up off the box.
"Sit down!", Chris demanded as he pushed Scott back down on the supply crate. "I was about to stop it, the agent in charge here was wrong to start the protocol that separates families, but he was right to keep everyone in quarantine", Chris told him. "But I have a feeling that the disagreement between you and Ivan wasn't really about that".
Scott was silent as he dropped his gaze to the ground. "You do understand that you have probably just caused more panic for every single survivor that saw you punch Ivan", Chris snapped. "All they know is that we've turned up and now they are all being separated. They are already scared, now they've seen us fighting amongst each other which isn't going to help matters. It's just going to make them lose hope when they think we don't know what we're doing".
Scott remained quiet. When Scott showed no sign of responding, Chris sighed, "what did he say?", he asked.
"What makes you think he said anything?", Scott questioned as he looked up at his captain.
"I know you and I know Ivan", Chris stated.
Sighing Scott said, "I wanted him to make it more humane for the people involved, but he wouldn't... I went to walk away and heard him call me a B.O.W under his breath".
"I thought as much... but that gives you no right to hit a superior", Chris told him. "You're lucky we're in a crisis, but as soon as this is all cleared up, you will be dealt with for attacking a superior. You do realise you can be suspended for this", Chris informed him.
Before Scott could respond a shout went up in the camp. "YOU BASTARD! This is your fault!", came an angry shout from someone that Scott didn't recognise. "Keep him back!", came the panicked voice of Ivan. Which caught Chris and Scott's attention as they turned to look to where the shouting was coming from. The commotion was going on in front of one of the medical tents, Scott could just make out a survivor being held back by two other BSAA agents, while Ivan was getting up off the floor.
"Don't you dare try and take my nephew from me!", the survivor shouted at Ivan as he struggled in the grip of the agents. "Just great", Chris muttered as he looked at Scott. "You stay there", Chris ordered as he turned and ran over to the commotion that was going on. Scott watched from where he sat. The survivor managed to free himself from the grips of the two BSAA soldiers. Marching towards Ivan, who backed away very quickly. "You wanna fight mate! Just tell me, don't drag my family into this, arsehole!", the survivor shouted.
"Alright, that's enough!", Chris shouted yet again, getting between the survivor and Ivan. "Sir, back off".
"Do you really think I'm gonna stand by while he separates families?", the survivor demanded as he stared at Chris, "not on your life, mate".
"Just calm down", Chris told him.
"I will when he stops making things worse", he snapped.
No one else on Scott's team was moving to help Chris, they all seemed to be standing rigidly as they watched the scene unfold before their eyes. Scott shook his head and watched from his box, enjoying the fact that Ivan was getting what he deserved. "He didn't order the separation", Chris told him.
