Welcome to the rewritten version of Fallen! The following chapters have been removed since I changed so many things. They will be back up as soon as I get them rewritten! Hope you guys enjoy.
Sang's P.O.V.
I huff as I get into my car, feeling completely drained. I didn't have a long shift at the bar today, but the last few weeks have taken a toll on all of us.
Things have been weird lately. I mean, nothing has been normal since I woke up seven months ago from a brutal attack with no memory of my past life, but something has been off. We just don't know what it is yet. Some days, I just want to get in bed and never get out. But, what I do doesn't necessarily bring in the big bucks. Henry's veteran's pension was enough for him, but with two new people in the house, it doesn't cut it anymore. Taylor definitely makes the most out of the three of us, but we're better off not knowing how she makes the money in her opinion.
Sure, we could charge people for our services, but that isn't what Procters are about. We are here to help protect people and it wouldn't be the same if we started charging them for it.
I put my car in drive and speed off as fast as I can, considering the car is a piece of shit. The air conditioning doesn't even work in here, which in this heat, is very unfortunate. But it gets me where I need to go, so I can't complain.
I fiddle with the radio, hating the silence, despite the short drive to work. I frown as the only sound the radio picks up is static and when I try to change it, it stays on the same station. The radio is one of the few things in this car that usually works.
I give up, and eventually I'm back home. I've barely gotten out of the car before Henry appears on the front porch and strides over with a determined look. He's probably going to tell me I parked badly again.
"Sang," he calls out when he's only a few feet away. "Perfect timing."
"Please don't say what I think you're about to say," I beg. I can hear it in his voice that he has another job for me, and all I want to do is sleep.
"I had a man call, worried sick about his wife," he informs me. "The wife needs an exorcism."
"I'm technically still in training though," I say, even though I could do an exorcism in my sleep. "You're the teacher."
"Yeah, but you're the one that can read minds and shit," he says.
Fair enough. "Alright," I sigh, "Just give me the address and I'll be on my way."
I grab a pen and my notebook from inside the car and write down the address.
"Be careful," he says. "I have a feeling, with everything that's been happening recently. My radio fizzlin', strange behavior in animals," he pauses, "Something bad is coming."
"Wait, the radio fizzling is a sign? How come you never mentioned that?," I ask. No wonder my radio was giving out.
"You're still my apprentice. There's so much more you need to learn. But we can talk later, you need to get going. I just want you to be cautious. This exorcism is probably going to be a rough one."
"Alright," I nod. "I'll be back as soon as I can. Just save me some dinner."
I get into the car and speed off. Henry and I can butt heads sometimes, but I trust his judgement.
I never thought that we would be as close as we are now. After he found me bleeding out in the street with no memories, he took care of me, but at first it was like I was just another job to him.
