The gunshot ripped you from any peace you had. You shot up and looked around. Thomas was up too. You sprang up from the bed and ran, not bothering to put your boots on. Thomas sat up quickly and pulled his boots on but when he saw you running Thomas shot up too, chasing after you.

When you got the stairs, Thomas's arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you back, lifting you from the ground.

"No, Thomas! Put me down!"

You struggled in his arms, you had to see what happened. Something told you it was bad. You kicked at the air as he pulled you back into his room. Thomas wouldn't let go. He already knew what had happened and he didn't want you to see it.

"Thomas, please! Let go!"

He drug you back into his room and dropped you. As soon as he did you dashed back to the other side. He grabbed your wrist but with one jerk you freed it from his grasp. Thomas whined and went back after you.

You dashed up the stairs with him right behind you. You threw open the metal  door just enough to squeeze through and continued running to the front door. Thomas had to stop a moment to throw the rest of the door open. By the time he did it you were already out the door.

You bounded out onto the porch and stopped. You turned and saw Hoyt standing over someone. You gasped and jumped down the steps, taking off towards the barn. Thomas ran out the door too, only moments behind you.

Your feet pounded the dirt, and you could hear Thomas's footsteps gaining on yours. It was only when you had reached Hoyt that Thomas had caught up and had grabbed you again. He hoisted you high into the air and pulled you against him, holding you there.

"Thomas!"

Hoyt turned and looked at you with a grimace on his face. You and Thomas stopped fighting each other for a moment and stared at him. Hoyt said nothing and only walked away, still holding the pistol. As he moved you saw b/n laying on the ground.

"B/n!"

You reached out for him but got nowhere as you were still being held back by Thomas.

"Thomas! Tommy, please..."

You fought against Thomas, until he gave a sigh and dropped you. You stumbled and fell besides him. Blood covered almost all of his shirt. He had been shot in his stomach. His eyes were closed and his head was lolled to the side. His chest rose and fell, shaking. He was still alive.

You grabbed his shoulders, shaking him. It was all you could do. You scooped him up into your arms and held him up. He head moved slightly. You looked helplessly at Thomas. He just stood there quietly, watching you.

"Thomas, please, help me."

Thomas shuffled a bit and stopped. He knew it was too late, he just didn't have the heart to tell you. Thomas shook his head slowly. You knew what he meant and you weren't gonna believe it.

"Y-y/n?"

You snapped your attention back to your brother. His eyes fluttered open and he looked at you. His breath hitched as he opened his mouth.

"Y-y/n...I knew you were....here."

"Oh god, b/n, I'm so sorry..."

"I just shou...should have listened..."

"B/n, no...I'm sorry. It's all my fault."

Tears fell down your face as you spoke. B/n shook his head. He knew if he had listened he wouldn't have been laying here dying. And certainly not in front of you. B/n caught a glimpse of something and he slowly moved his head, looking at the figure standing behind you.

"Its...you."

You stopped and looked behind you at Thomas. He stood there silently. You looked back to b/n and laid a hand on his face, directing his gaze away from Thomas.

"No, no, no. Just relax, okay?"

His breathing became heavy as he looked at Thomas again. The same man that had thrown him into the house. It was him. The man that had taken her from him. It was his fault. Tears started to fall down his own face as he looked at him.

"What do you want with her?! Why couldn't you have j-just left her alone?!"

"B/n. It's not his fault okay? It's mine."

"No. It isn't..."

"Yes it is, b/n."

"Why?....Why?...Why?"

His breathing slowed and his eyes became glossy. His eyes shut all but a sliver as he fought to keep them open. He was tired. So damn tired. He shook his head as it fell back even further.

"....why?"

His eyes shut and he became limp in your arms. His chest stopped rising and his head fell to the side.

You stopped.

"B/n? B/n, please....b/n?!"

You squeezed your eyes shut and hit the ground with your fist. Pain shot through your hand and up your arm but you barely noticed it.

"B/n, c'mon, don't leave me, damnit!"

Your breath hitched and you started crying heavily. You gently laid his body down in the grass. You crawled away from his body and sat back, drawling your knees up to your chest and burrowing you face into them.

Thomas watched you. He looked back over at your brother's body. He hung his head a bit before he turned back to you. Thomas carefully took a step towards you. He watched as your shoulders shook as you cried. He hated this. If only he had been a little faster she wouldn't have seen this.

Thomas sighed and walked over to you. He crouched down to where you sat. He laid a hand over your shoulder and whined. You looked up at him for a second before you turned and threw your arms around his neck, burrowing your face into his shoulder.

Thomas blinked a couple of times before he hugged you back. He had his one hand on your back and the other on the back of your head. He knew you were hurt but he didn't know what to do now.

You both sat out in the grass for ehat seemed like hours. Thomas held you but he couldn't help but look at your brother's body laying just a few feet from them. You cried until there were no more tears left. You sat in his arms, your breath kept hitching as you tried to calm down. Your eyes burned and you were exhausted.

Thomas held you until you passed out from exhaustion.
