One of theirs

The morning sun broke through the open window as the sun started to rise. Its warmth and strong light began to bring you from your sleep as it shined against your face. You groaned a bit and dug your face further into your pillow.

You laid with your back against Thomas, his large arms wrapped around your waist and his face buried in the crook of your neck. His breaths were calm and rhythmic. The blanket was pulled up nicely and its softness made you even more comfortable.

You listened for any noise downstairs. It was still early in the morning so you figured no one would've been up to begin with. You heard nothing so you mentally shrugged and turned over in Thomas's arms, allowing him to then hold you against him.

His large body was warm and it was nice in the cool room. He was like a large heater that you could cuddle against. You shut your eyes again, wanting just to fall back asleep again. You really didn't want to get up until you actually had to.

You just decided to lay their with him. It was only Thomas started to stir that you enjoyed it.

Thomas first shifted his weight, finding a more comfortable spot before he even let out a sigh and laid his chin on the top of your head. You smiled against his skin, saddened by the thought of having to get up soon anyway.

If you would have had it your way, you would have just laid there with him until you were forced to get up. It wasn't like he ever had any set plans anyway. Thomas just always did what was asked or needed of him. Maybe today you could both just relax. You gave a sigh as you knew that was very unlikely.

Even though you still hadn't heard anybody downstairs yet, it didn't forget to remind you of your place. It was clear. Thomas had found something special of you and he never wanted it to end. He was happy with you, and Luda was glad of it. She would be the first one to shut down anymore of Hoyt's shit.

It gave you a sense of relief knowing that you would get some peace from him.

At least you thought so.

Your peace, however, was short lived as you could hear Hoyt beyond the door, grumbling. You rolled your eyes as his footsteps got closer. The sudden banging on the door awoke Thomas with a jump and he quickly propped himself up to look at the door.

"Get ur ass up, boy! We got people comin in, work to do!"

You huffed as you heard the footsteps fading down the hall and Thomas fell back onto the bed with a groan. He covered his eyes with a hand and ran it up, pushing his hair back. You gave him a slightly sorry look.

"Guess you'd better listen to him, huh?"

Thomas gave a sigh but nodded, looking away. He knew there were things to be done, he just didnt want to do them today. He would have rather just laid in bed for once. But his Uncle had a schedule and not even the strongest forces could make him change it. He began to get up, picking up his clothing and getting dressed.

She watched him for a little while before she got up as well. It wasn't long before he left. But before he did, he paused, coming over to her. He stood over her, looking down through the strands of black hair that hung in his eyes. He seemed to be watching you, or rather admiring you? Without much effort, he wrapped his arms around you, lifting you from the ground in a tight hug. He nuzzled his face against yours, the rough leather brushing you. He then set you down, pausing to look at you before he left the room, allowing you to get dressed.

Left alone to change, you noticed something. Sitting on the dresser of the room was some folded items. Looking through them, it became clear that they were some sun dresses. They looked old, clearly hand made as the old white stitching in them was slightly frayed and thin in some places. There was a white one, a pale yellow one with small flower print, and a light blue one with a belted waist line and a couple buttons on the chest. You picked your favorite and got ready.

When you made it downstairs into the kitchen, the house was still rather quiet. Thomas had already gone off and Hoyt was no where to be heard either. As you came into the kitchen, you seen Luda and Monty. Monty glanced up from his newspaper, glancing at you with indifference. He looked back down, not paying much mind. Luda however was a different story.

She turned, smiling as you approached. She had a plate in her hand and sat it down on the table. She smiled as she seen you wearing the sundress. She spoke as kindly as ever.

"Ah, good mornin, dear. I see you found those dresses. They're my old ones...lord, suppose I haven't worn them since my twenties.." She laughed somewhat, fixing herself a tea. "They look good on you. I hope you slept well."

You sat down at the table, looking at the plate. She'd made you scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. The orange juice sat on the table in a pitcher, free to use as you pleased. You began eating, talking back to her with the same amount of kindness she'd shown you. Especially for defending you last night.

"Oh, I slept alright...thank you for the dresses by the way...and for breakfast."
She glanced at you, smiling. She came to sit down besides you at the table, sipping her tea and picking up a small catalog from the center of the table. "Oh, it's no problem...after all, you are one of us now. I don't want you to feel unwelcomed. I must say i'm sorry about Hoyt's behaivor. He can be...well, an ass."
